    Hi
I've just purchased my first hackintosh I wanted a faster processor but I'm unable to upgrade my MacBook Pro so I bought one of these instead I'm just waiting for the delivery now . The hackintosh is running a i5 Intel core 3.7ghz processor 16gig of ram I've requested it to be on OS X Mavericks as that's what I'm using now on my Mac .
Are there any obvious problems I will run into installing my plugins or running the terminal patches or will it act the same way as my Mac . It doesn't come with a Bluetooth card or a dvd/cd drive . Can I fit any sata type dvd drive inside or is a usb one just as good . What would be better connectivity either to fit a Bluetooth card inside or use a dongle as I need one to run my mouse and keyboard . Thanks for your advice guys . Any tips would be much appreciated

Hold it to the same requirements and specs as a real Apple product. So if you couldn't use that internal drive with a Mac then don't try it with a Hackintosh. Keep it as vanilla as possible for best results.

The biggest limitation is virtualization. You're not likely to have success running something like VMWare Fusion under OSX86. But of course, with PC hardware, there's always dual-boot, so...

Edit: Having said that, external devices work better (compatibility, not performance-wise). Internal drives typically work well, so the SATA drive should be recognized. That's more an issue of your controller being recognized, not the drive itself.

Definitely check to see if the internal Bluetooth card is natively supported by OSX, or (if you're desperate) some other kext. I would personally go external here.

I just switched over from Windows to Mac myself. If you are not an illiterate in PC building, you should be ok.
I'm running a 5 year old pc, with 6 internal drives (Sata and IDE), i boot from an SSD where my OS is located (dualboot to windows 10)
I'm using a 6 year old external sound card (Saffire 6 USB) for music production. I had some issues with NTFS (stay away from El Capitan) and running Fuse and 3GNtfs i could solve that, but still not working 100pct like it should (FAT formatted Windows drives) Other then that, the only thing i haven't got working till now is my onboard soundcard ALC892, but the Saffire works great, just can't change volume through my keyboard.

Look up and follow the Clover install guide for Yosemite (or your own prefered OSx86), download the right kext for your hardware, implement them in your EFI boot, and you should be good to go :) If you have any questions, i'm happy to help, i'll check this topic a couple times a day :)

PS: Funny fact= My old Saffire hasn't had updated drivers for Windows for years, i've been playing with 100+ms latency for over 5 years (got used to it), and now my Saffire acts like a brand new card, i'm suddenly at 10ms latency, wich has me totally relearning piano playing hehe :)

I'm almost 8 years hackintosh user I didn't know you can buy a hackintosh from online shop or store.
    I always build mine.

This is the biggest Hackintosh community I know.

The first tip is to not send someone money for a hackintosh, you build them yourself. How can they possibly offer support? Oh that's right they don't, that's why you posted this thread, lol.

Thanks for the advice everyone I think I should be ok with it . I only went down this road because I paid to much for my Mac and then did further upgrades down the road and it just ends up becoming so ridiculous in price . If I could have built one myself I would have but I'm more about making music than taking the time and effort It would take me to learn how to build one I'm not comfortable doing it that's why I found someone that builds them I'd rather use someone who knows what there doing . I just thought I'd ask for some advice here as a few of you guys use them and I know what a great community this forum is . Thanks
