What is the best Mac alternative to Sound Forge?

    Hello,
    Lately I'm into drums layering, I intend to merge different audio sources.
    I've heard that Sound Forge is a pretty good tool for it.
    Is it a similar wave editor for Mac?
    I'd like to perform audio layering and very accurate edits.

    I'm not 100% sure but with AMADEUS Pro it could work.
    Or with Bias PEAK Pro. I know it works with "Soundtrack Pro" but this software isn't easy to find! I uploaded it some time ago on AudioZ.

    personally i use a sampler for this task, and trigger multiple samples at once with fades and such, i like to work non destructively so i can always adjust the layering later if need be.

    Thanks for recommendations
    I've played with Wave Editor...simple & useful
    although I don't like the selection box, like braces on the teeth, more orthopedic than surgical.
    I'm checking TwistedWave...the editing options are great. One of the things I like is spreadsheet...so detailed
    Work non destructively maybe is the best but sometimes you need to look at the wave.
