What metering color settings do you use?

    Hey guys, I was just wondering what other color coding set ups you have? =I ushually have my color break at - 8 and - 18. is this too low or high? thanks for the input cheers!!

    Too high/low for what?

    I don't use colors, I think (or they are set to default). I gain-stage by numbers and level meters.

    too high or low for my gain staging. is - 8 ag ood level for my gain staging? thats where I try to sit my tracks when recording them`````````````````````````

    For which metering system are you talking about? LuFS, RMS, ITU, etc...
    Sounds like RMS, but just to be sure.

    There are many great books about mastering.

    You can also google "Loudness metering" for more info.

    I usually go for -12 RMS too, but sometimes up to -8 (at most) when required.
    The metering in Slate FG-X is great - the perfect mastering compressor/limiter for me.
    Signal stays transparent if you don't put shitty settings.

    Bonus: it's important to not make your mixes brutally loud (like it's modern now), rather try to preserve the dynamics by not overcompressing everything. This is also valid for the limiters, don't do hard limiting and you'll be fine.
