whats the best Mac software for converting sound files from one format to another?

Max (free to download) is what I myself prefer for batch processing from one format to another:

However, it would not transcode FLAC files from 24/96 to 16/44.1, so I used Bigasoft FLAC Converter for that:

i am using Adobe Audition. Works well and stable

 

Just as for Windows, I would say it's dBpoweramp.
If it has to be free, SoX is also really nice.

to be a bit more specific, I am interested in changing sound files from musician apps (Kontakt, Sylenth, Serum, etc) to other app formats

Well, I would say that it depends on what you're converting.. I use xAct, XLD, Switch, All2MP3, iTunes and EasyWMA, depending what flavors I'm converting from AND to..
