I don't see many decent Alternatives myself. But I love rockfile.eu, btw. I get about 200kb/s in free mode. Whereas with UL and RG, I only get 53kb/s in free mode. Mega.nz is okay, but like Artic said, it isn't really that good and not too much of a hype for me. But everyone is different in terms of speeds, I guess. Depends on your WiFi, too. I always have an open mind and open to new ideas, but there are a lot of people who complain about the filehosters. In fact, I got into a huge argument on "The Big Zee" with another user maybe 3-6 months back for not making a rockfile link available (contrary to the fact I actually had one). He/she asked for one in the comments and the whole comments section on my post went from a dickload of "thanks claytonr! You're a legend!" to a blood bath of "ungrateful people, everywhere!" as a result. Obviously not referring to me. But supposedly many users are affected by these servers. UL and RG are a good reason why I stopped contributing - because the upload speeds were simply too slow for me and my planned uploads where simply too large. Uploading a 30GB Kontakt library for me was literally gonna be a 60 hour affair and therefore I'd have to leave my computer on for that long, thus crapping my pants and going to the ICU for a stroke at the sight of the electricity and WiFi bills and being forced to eat my own fecal matter because I couldn't afford any food. Lol No I wouldn't literally shit my pants, have a stroke or eat my own crap, but you get the gist of it all.

The problem I have had with Rapidgator free mode is the follwing:
1) waiting period randomly set at 180 seconds instead of 45.
2) urlguard not releasing after captcha
3) normal captcha not releasing (recycling). even when set to accept cookies.
4) random redirect to malware download (rar or zip replaced by exe file).

Not high enough volume to justify premium mode.

Have found Zippyshare and Mega to work very well. Oboom at one time was not bad but has become
a joke.

Would be great for us low volume users to have alternat sources...

well, mega and mediafire are pretty decent for freeloaders (no pun intended lol) but I disagree what you say about uploaded. They are superfast in premium, I get 12 MB/s - that's as fast as my link-up allows.

 

The alternative I use when premium is out of time , or the UL, RG hour long wait file limit arrises. Or worse than that is the larger content/multiple links making up the whole package one, is too simply search it on your favorite trusted torrent site. The popular vst's or sample publishers are 95% of the time good to go. Its much less frustrating than waiting on a 4 hour d/l Part 1 of 5 on any paysite. Bypassing the potential for example when windows update reboots(insert any other unfortunate scenario) to ruin the downloads =) some people hate torrenting, but I find it a handy secondary option for the big files or for when I hit my limit as i said before. *I know this may not be the solution your looking for, but it works to alleviate the hassle for my AudioZ paysite blues <3*

 

In addition to that, a number of "porn site premium posters" seem to use Depfile quite a lot. I don't know if that would be a suitable candidate, but it seems popular in that sector of paysite subscribers. *Shrug*

there were so many free hosters .. hulkfile being one that was commonly used..and had a good speed for freebsters,
but as has been said here before, they get taken down ...

rg bases in china.. does not give a sweet and sour catbutt sandwich about copyright... tho it does
take down reported links..which they then allow to magically reappear from other sources...

not sure how uploaded in NL manages to survive for so long but more power to them...

in the end it's the uploader's choice.. I am happy to pay a small fee for the services.. and sorry it's out of reach for some..
but do try real-debrid it's your cheapest and best alternative... I can no longer buy rg in my country so it's the
only way I can use rg with good speed for now..as well

 

Yup. I remember that. And more specifically I remember when Megaupload was seized by the FBI and then a plethora of other FFS saw Megaupload's quick but gruesome and financially blood-shedding demise and almost immediately decided to chicken out by either disabling the right to download files from an account that doesn't belong to you, or just going completely offline in hopes to appear as though they were a mythical non-existant service. Some of those FFS included from what I remember - Wupload, Hotfile, and possibly even Rapidshare - who I used for the longest time. Oh the good ol' days of my love affair with my Rapidshare premium account - 2007 through 2009 Haha. But UL and RG have been like that one brick building that's still standing even after several natural disasters - Ie: the screaming fall of Megaupload. They just didn't chicken out and hide under their urine-stained bedsheets like a myriad of others did. So it makes sense that they're widely trusted as a FFS.

 

That's the same way I do it. I did that for Omnisphere and a plethora of Kontakt Libraries and sample packs. I usually use Kickasstorrents, btdigg, or rutracker - which have all shown mostly top-shelf speeds for me.

They're like many other people - they can't handle the audibility of others' opinions. When one person disagrees with the other, it turns into a blood bath of insults. To be brutally honest, it makes me kinda sick to see/hear people call each other a retard simply because they don't enjoy or feel the same way the others do. If I was an admin I would be banning anyone who talks like that to anyone else on the forum for no less than 7 days depending on the severity of the comment(s). Just one of the many ways I'd go out of my way to make sure everyone feels respected, safe, and welcomed here. Especially in a world where love is deemed creepy and the slightest disagreement is deemed a war crime and can only be resolved by attacking one another verbally and/or physically. Every site has it - youtube, KVR, Gearsluts, and so on. I once got banned from a forum because I simply commented on another user's track something similar to below:
"Personally, It's not my type of music, but I'd make it a little more 'phat' in terms of mixing. It just sounds a bit flat to me. Otherwise I think you should be good."
I got banned via my IP forever just because of my honest feedback. I've also been attacked here and there simply because, similar to above, something was not my personal taste and I came out in a civilized manner. Thus resulting in me being the bad guy - for being honest instead of smooching people's asses. On here I notice a huge difference in terms of manners and open-mindedness - I see a lot less of the plain ignorance and disrespect to one another and more civilized dialog because everyone seems to know everyone personally like a large family. So it would be nice to keep it that way.

 

Oh god I totally forgot about Hotfile and rapidshare haha. I was still using free accs so there was one good one Bit-something that let you get 3-400kb/s

I've been pretty solid with RG. Haven't had slow speeds by any means. I had a 30Mbps plan with my ISP and was pretty much maxing that when I was downloading in bulk. That was a couple months ago though, have speeds decreased dramatically since then?

I will say that UL.to hasn't worked for me in a year or two. I literally can't even subscribe, they deny my card every time and I never understood why. I had asked my bank and they assured me there was no restriction in place against the purchase or anything, and when I called UL they couldn't pinpoint the reason either. So i went with RG instead.



Either way, I'm happy just have a working FFS and being able to get stuff without problem. Sucks when you try to download a 140 part file and it has 2 or 3 missing, but seems to be the nature of the beast at times. Rehauling the relationship between hosts and warez communities would be a monumental undertaking I think.
