my tips: i use IR of ´´Rooms, ambient, back of cab, field, floor,null and wall´´ cabinets etc.. on

insert fx, i use A send.
i dont put IR direcet on the signal chain, i ´´send´´ for the insert fx, and i have better control.

cap/cap edege/cone/cone edge
1. Move the mic closer for MORE proximity effect and thus MORE low-end.
2. Move the mic farther away for LESS proximity effect and thus LESS low-end.
3. Move the mic towards the cap for definition (if it sounds too muddy).
4. Move the mic out towards the edge of the cone if it sounds too harsh.
5. If it sounds too bright, sometimes it'll work to leave the mic where it is and just flip it off

axis. It
will roll-off the highs and depending on the mic give it "grainy-er" sound.

I don't know if you keep this updated but if you do: http://valhallir.at/they are absolutely amazing and the recently added 1992 Mesa is the best Mesa 4x12 IR out there.
You can get a free teaser box although I must say that roughly half of the IRs in there don't do the respective full sets justice imho.

 

I feel like we need to add to a thread like this or make another modern version of it.
