But waiting for the v9 isn't cheaper - it may even be more expensive - you may aswell update each .5 update and spread the cost.
Current Prices To Update to 8.5 are

    8.5 From 8
    $55

    8.5 From 7.5
    $165

    8.5 From 7
    $220

They can......if you don't like multi-monitor support. The ONLY way to get Mac-esque monitoring of the DAW is with Aero. This is a limitation of Windows, not Cubase. Hope this helps. :)

OK, let's try this way. It was brought to my attention it appears like I used those rating buttons and I received complaints about abusing the system... I wrote to the mods and explained the possible cause of all this. I touched no rating buttons, and I have NEVER used "dumb" button to label anyone's post. Especially sorry to see "my" ratings affected some members I contacted via PM for some conversation on totally different subject.
@ Rhodes - honestly, I have no clue, still waiting for mods help.
Anyone else - the same answer.
    Thanx for understanding.

"Regarding creativity and sound design, Ableton Live (with Max for Live) will literally blow Cubase away."
someone must be really stupid to write this, no Ableton doesn't blow Cubase miles away as far as I know, there's also some hype about Ableton.. The kids...

    As far as you know?
Seems you don't know any far.

Great first post by the way, thanks for taking the time signing up for just letting us know your very informative post. ;)

And now, compare the features regarding CREATIVITY and SOUND DESIGN between Ableton Live Suite (with Max For Live) and Cubase.
Ableton will literally blow Cubase away.

So the question remains, why all the hype for Cubase?

It is not a "hype"... it is, that it is around since Atari, and in these "few years" it earned a reputation.

I have to disagree. Ableton has some good and unique features but I think the midi implementation (such as the sequencer) is so basic, and the metering is unreliable to name two things -- in some ways it looks like a toy compared to Cubase. Just my opinion and I've used both a lot.

For audio recording which is i.m.o way more creative then messing around on a computer keyboard Cubase is way better than Live.

Sound Design? i dont know but what is sound design?
Q1-Do you create your OWN sounds from real sources with a mic?
Q2 Or do you mess around with OTHERS sources you dl from web or some wav files you found on a sample library?
If you answer Q1 then you are creative.
If you answer Q2 then you are just a computer wiz

    I do it all.
I sound design in various ways, using synthesizers (software based), using sample layering and even use existing sample libraries to create unique stuff in Granulator2, even record my own samples and field recordings using my Roland R-05.

yes the whole windowmanagement is a pain in the ass, thanks to our sisterpage i was able to compare every DAW (even FL studio and Ableton) and this what they must fix asap. We need full scalable windows asap (i own a 40" 4 K Philips Monitor which was "cheap",3840x2160 60Hz, 650 Euros).
There is no doubt we will all use high DPI monitors soon, even Windows users.

So it makes sense to you that you need flashing menus to make music? Reaper works fine with out flashing menus.
I do not need flashing menus to make music I want the wasted resources to run my plugins.
