Nice one for musicians that can`t play guitar but are good on keyboards.
...but it still sounds too artificial.

I see it as a great tool for beginner pianists to learn that hands separation that takes such a long time to achieve.
    Anyway, a nice one

I have been playing guitar for 50 yrs and every picker I know hates anything that isn't a real guitar playing through a real amp. Those "purists" IMHO have closed minds to anything new. I am a keyboardist who also plays harmonica, sax, trumpet, bass, drums & several other instruments. I have played all these instruments professionally, but, according to the gigs I was performing, I have found it very convenient to be able to pull up some brass, or percussion, or backing guitar on keyboard (when not playing guitar) to satisfy the needs of the song. I once played with a steel guitarist who could make it sound like a Hammond B3 with leslie, and I thought it was great, because we had no keyboardist and the song demanded it. My point being..........yes, it is a good tool for a keyboardists, but definitely not for beginners. These programs have quite a learning curve and require experience on a keyboard. It also takes knowing how a guitar is played to make it sound unlike a keyboard. I would use it at a gig and on my laptop for demos when it is impossible to record my guitar. It sounds no more artificial than amp sims. I guess I should be upset when a guitar player decides to use a pedal to sound like a synth or an organ, but I'm not. There are many "famous" pickers that actually do experiment with other sounds, so I know there are some people that have open minds to create new things. After all, the wah wah and fuzz tone were new once.

    @westfinch

    I completely disagree

It is not about being closed minded... it is just that a guitarist miss the 1001 ways to pick that single note... on keys You are very limited in this regard.
I play both, piano and guitar for many decades, as You do, but I just can`t express myself on a keyboard like on a guitar.
There is a totally different approach when it comes to do it on keys or on guitars.

On a guitar the "feel" is generated by the way that You pick, bend, vibrate, strum... on the piano we have a totally different story.
You can`t play a convincing piano sound on guitar, and You can`t play a convincing guitar sound on piano.
Whoever says it is not so, probably plays without a feeling and doesn`t know what the two instruments are capable of IMO.

@Rhodes: If you go back and re-read what you said, then what I said, you will find there is not a complete disagreement. I never said it was the same. I was just stating this is something different that can be used for certain purposes. I don't feel limited on a keyboard playing guitar samples. It isn't the same feel as guitar, nor a sax, nor a bass, nor a violin because it is a keyboard. That is why I said it has a learning curve. I would also be willing to bet you have admired some recordings of songs with great guitars and amazing drums and bass, but never realized they were made by a keyboard in a studio. Again, if I had been too purist to change my thinking, I never would have bought my first wahwah or fuzz tone (thank you Jimi). You sounded like the pickers I know when you said it was for musicians who can't play guitar but are good on keyboard. It sounded very guitar-snobish, even if you didn't mean it that way. If you watched the video, the guy who created this is a really good guitar player as well as a good keyboardist. I am not in a debate with you. You have your opinion, and I have mine. Peace to you.

No problem @westfinch , I didn`t wanted to debate about that; it is just my point of view.
I like the idea of that "software" and it sounds ok on that video; just wanted to say how limiting it can be from what I understand.
It has nothing to do with being snobbish or whatever.
I like both instruments (piano and guitar)... I like more the piano when I am comping or playing alone, and like more the guitar when I play in a band.
Both are wonderful instruments, each in its own way.

and btw. this is the best "guitar sim" (if we can call it that way) that I have heard so far, so congratulations to the developer

Peace to You too westfinch :mates:

Funny, the distorted intro sounds like Derek Sherinian and right after that sounds like Jordan Rudess clavinet sounds.

I was thinking the same thing. It sounds good, but it still sounds artificial. After buying my own and getting back into playing, there's just TOO MUCH of a difference in sound.

I'm curious. Do you say that because you need one hand for the articulations and other for the musical notes itself?

yes, You don`t have to think about the right notes on the left hand... it is much more natural to get the groove going on the left hand, if You think just about the articulations, instead of playing bass lines.

I think that in a few days, You can achieve the goal of rhythmically separate the hands; what would take a few months with the classical bass line approach.

Great for beginners (that know to play chords)
...than, when the ice is broken, and the connections are made in Your brains, it should be much easier to go for the common bass line rhythm way.

Of course, I can`t confirm that, since I have it behind me, but it seems to me that it could be of a great help for the beginner pianist.
If I remember well, it took me 1 - 1.5 years to completely separate the hands using the classical way.

My bad. I'm used to Prominy V-Metal and I assumed this one also uses sampled chords, which is not the case. In other words, just one key for chord. I get it now.

In fact, playing like this is similar to playing a keyboard with an Organ-like instrument. It's what I can play right now and very few chords yet. I won''t even try to learn piano, too much for me.

I'm not fan of Pettinhouse's products but after testing it,I decided to keep it in my hard drive with my favorit library.

A must have with " Warm jazz " from the same publisher .

    Just my opinion.:winker:
