    Hello there,

I went back to my old archive of good old disco music and I found a rework I believe it is "Play That Funky Music". It got stuck in my head immediately so I did something wich i quite like. Tell me your thoughts.

NOTE: It's still work in progress.

Pretty cool. I thought the part around 1:26 was slightly distracting, because at 1:22 it comes in strong and loud and a few seconds later you lose an instrument and it loses energy. Really a minor thing though and I only noticed because I was thoroughly enjoying your short but sweet track

I like it! I would consider working a bit more the old sample (that starts around 0:38) volume and eq wise, blending it a little more.
    The groove is great!

What's the vocal that you used for this? As it's nothing like Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music", just wondered what that acapella was. Great track, but like others have said, that vocal break needs to come way up in the mix otherwise it sounds a bit odd the way it's set back from the rest of the song. Also I don't get if you played on this or produced it yourself, or it's some cover version you found?

Wow! Thank you for your great feedback. Really means a lot. Download is for now unavailable, but as soon as I will finished thetrack, I'll put a link here.

I just used a track, sampled the "short break", some loops from that track but everything else what you heared I did it on my own. I don't play any instruments except piano, but very little. I trust my ears.

I believe its a disco edit for that song. "LAYTON & STONE - Funky music" thats the title that I found in the old archive. This is a really raw version of the track, so a lot of things needs to be changed. Like I said, I found this original track "LAYTON & STONE - Funky music" on some CD and I started to messing around a little bit with it. Then I came up with that idea wich I posted on Soundcloud.

No offense, but the drums are almost definitively Vengeance samples or the like. I'm assuming you use midi packs as well?

Nope. I didn't use any midi files neither Vengenance sample packs. They are just over heared and over used.

Gotcha. I guess I'm just saying you used loops for the drums, as they sound pre-compressed, and I could immediately tell. Either way, still a catchy tune. Sometimes it's easy to tell if someone is using drum loops, so maybe just keep that in mind. But seriously, I dig the hell out of it.

I mean, this whole song is basically loop based, you can tell, but still a good use of editing them together.

That's another thing yes. I misunderstood. I use some loops wich I like perosnally and then I recreate and edit them in ways that I think it sounds cool.
