Believing was before Jesus Christ and all other Religions. It is fundamental part of human nature and one of the strongest Human points(if used right and not for fanatism and manipultaions). Religions are just product of that. We(or say bad people who manipulate with it) just made it look bad. I really don't want to live in world where is no beliefs and everything is needed to have logical explanation. I don't care if God or whoever is real or not if i see, people are happy, they smile and are nice with each other because of believings in God or whatever/whoever. With atheism, which is by the way just different kind of religion, people becoming robots. Results of this, we can already see. Everboy have own opinion(which is by self not a problem, but start becoming big problem, when we should achive bigger important humanity goals) and just talk talk and talk about world problems to look smart, but nobody actually do anything about them.

Well said. I wouldn't say that Christianity, Islam and Judaism is the beginning of religion. It definitely is a part of human nature. We look up into the sky and we wonder "Why?" and we ironically come up with explanations that seem to make sense to us. We roll with it. It's beautiful but it's sad. The idea that you will never know what "truth" actually is. Everything is only an idea. Like take a tree for example. It's not the tree that's the idea, what we call it is. We gave it an explanation. We found things that make sense on what they do and in a sense, why they are there. But we can't explain how. Religion on the other hand is like a "fail safe" with this concept. They just say "Well....God made it. That's how." and keep it moving. Somehow, that grants them comfort. It did for me at a time. No more, though. But I personally felt that it was best to question everything and to want to learn more than to walk around believing everything that everybody tells me.

That went right over your head buddy. :hahaha:

You just so HAPPEN to AGREE with the VERY people that POINTED out the VERY SAME THING that you are doing right now and yet, called me a "fuckwit", then told me you agreed with them THE VERY THING that you are doing now. Saying they were correct for telling me what I was doing, WHICH JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE THE VERY THING YOU ARE DOING RIGHT NOW!

    THE IRONY IS KILLING ME!

You definitely are a troll. #Cheers

@Chris Wellz: it's unclear to me whether or not you are referencing the King James version of the Bible to the exclusion of earlier translations. Would you care to clarify, please?

Lol... I enjoyed this. You meet some very interesting people over the internet. Whether friend or foe or troll or English teachers with bad spelling. The works. I love it.

    Nice post Chris.

    Food for thought

    Illusion Of Religion & Culture
functions as prison bars of the mind. limits. keeps us inside the cube/box.

whitch leads to another question to ponder:Truth vs Perception.

thats how I see it :)

I think the most popular and fundamental misunderstanding
is of relgion has something to do with believing.

This association is also a part of the power politics of the so called religions.

    Why ?

Because it is a very important instrument to make you believe
religion has something to do with believing.

More exactly ... to believe THEM religion is a matter of believing.
It creates a fake authority and a dependency to them, do you see the trick ?

In ancient times thunder and lightning was considered as an act of God.
It was based on believing and the very fact of not knowning.
    It was based on fear.

This very basic knowledge about human nature, fear and believing,
was abused by politics and so called religions
to create a corresponding psychology to rule humanity.

The very idea religion equals to believing was and is nothing but a doctrine
used as a marketing tool to sell you something.

As a cosmologist, what I'd really like to know is what do atheists say when they experience orgasm?

You're member for quite a long time, you should know better.
For now, I'll let it slide, considering religious discussions bring up lots of arguments over the net, but next time there will be repercussions.

Just a couple of days ago, I found myself fascinated by the thoughts of Lawrence Krauss regarding Life, The Universe and Nothing. For a while, it seemed to me that Prof. Krauss nailed it in similar vein to Chris Wellz in his original post here. Then, I caught some vidclips of Krauss vs theists who coincidentally had excellent knowledge of theoretical physics.

Check it out, ChrisWellz, if/when you have an hour or two to kill. Throw "Lawrence Krauss" at your fave search engine. I'll bet a pound to a pinch that you'll dig it.

    Nope, Incorrect.
Atheist is quite litterally the inverse of theist, which is someone who believes in the doctrine of theism, defined as the belief in one or many gods.
It is the absence of belief that makes me an atheist. Not a belief in there being no gods. The universe is wonderous and mesmorizing enough without needing to believe in things that aren't real.
What's wrong with not knowing. Why pass off what we think the answers to the great cosimc might be as fact.
I'm far more captivated by not knowing than, "well it must be.."

Some of the most creative and artistic people in the world are atheists with much the same opinion as I.
Penn Jillette, Seth McFarlane, Bill Maher, Sir Isaac Newton, Adam Savage, Mark Zuccherberg
Billy Joel, James Cameron, Blruce Lee, Mick Jagger and Jack Nicholson to name a few more.
I can go on. Ricky Gervais, Brad Pitt and Albert Einstein. But the name that must surely give you pause to reconsider your people becoming robots conclusion, is John Lennon.
One of the most creative people to have ever lived is an atheist.
More knowledge doesn't make you boring, it makes you interesting.

    and @DarthFader,
Check out Penn Jillette and Richard Dawkins. Both fantastic.
Search youtube for Richard Dawkins love letters. it's hilarious
