Okay so as a someone who has a very limited budget, this apeals to me.
Obv not the same as the genuinbe hardware, but may be a good alternative.
What does everyone reckon? Anyone had a go?

didn't this only come out like last week?

wait for proper reviews before diving in.

it's an interesting concept and not a new one by any means, alot of companies have tried to do similar things in the past. and none of them have been good.

    without testing this one i can't pass judgement. but a sm58 isn't a u87.

well, it is impossible to alternate the frequency response digitally, without alternating the phase response
especially with zero delay... that being said. it makes this nothing more then all off the hardware emulations we already have.

only for this one you need to buy all kinds of extra stuff, a 'flat' mic (were did I hear that one before?)
    and a extra preamp...

    I call bullshit
Don't say you not have been warned...:dont:

I guarantee, no "pro's" will be using this anytime soon...

    $5000 mics cost $5000 for a reason...

what a crock... Plugins like these make me want to punch the developers square in the throat!!! What? Does Slate need to pay for more plastic surgery or spray tans? They scraped the barrel for this one...

I saw the same video a year ago but the preamp was in a rack unit and it came with 2 mics

Is this a cut down version of it ?

funny how they try to sell this thing as hot shit although it has already been there over 15 years ago as antares' microphone modeler.

Might be a good tool for a quick, change in polar/proximity/response/eq points. I probably wouldn't strap it across a main vocal, but I think would try it on reamped synths, drums and the like. In the late 90s, antares mic modeler came in handy a few times.

But, it's iLok protected, correct? I don't support iLok products anymore (software authorized or dongle). Nor do I support new Aurturia software, with convoluted registration procedures, or software like Smithson Martin Emulator that require a monthly subscription to use their products.

I'm still laughing at the kemper. Most that record guitar's for a living know that nothing beats an old supro,Marshall,WEM,Old Tweed just good ole tube amps.I have an extensive collection of old tube amps in my studio and I'm used regularly for that collection. The kids who use my studio own axe effects and kempers.

After hearing a bunch of mics roundups for years and years, i can tell you U87 (and such) hype is just...hype.
Take a good clone at around 200-300 bucks. And nobody, even supposed "golden ears" "audiophiles" will not notice the difference.
You want more "air" ? Use a good high shelving (like virtual Abbey Road). More low rumble meat ? A resonant high pass (like Bark of dog).
ANY mic over 500 bucks is just a scam for ppl with too much money to waste.
