Felt the same way as you... Unfortunately I simply don't like the UI. Yes there are more modulation and bussing options. But the workflow to me is the most essential thing to getting shit done. If you're comfortable learning a new DAW, go ahead. I'm Pro Tools certified, I've been using Ableton since 2011 and I've also used DP and Reason as my main DAWS in the past too. But after buying Bitwig, I simply found the vast new macro and micro options paralyzing rather than making things more efficient. I said to myself "look, all this is great, but when it comes down the the real meat and potatoes Ableton already allows me to do what I want to do." Maybe it's not the most intuitive for editing audio or grouping tracks within tracks within tracks, but I know what my limitations are already and I'm familiar with it. Who knows how Bitwig will mature in the future, but as of now, I'm sticking with Ableton..... If you want to buy my Bitwig licence for a deal, let me know & PM me.

I'd consider it if they ever bothered to put in sample fade-in/fade-outs with user controllable settings - not just on/off to remove boundary clicks.

that can be created with gain expressions, what is missing that the sample overlapping(sample morphing)

Yes, you can, but IMHO ridiculous to do that for every sample. What, have we fallen into a time warp to the year 2000? ;)

You make "autofades/ fading" duties sound so essential that producers would excessively do it on a regular more-than-often basis. Just by saying "sample" in your quote it specifies by default just a fraction of what production means. Music Production is not just about fades and Bitwig knows that, especially if they designed this daw as a Creative beast rather than a mixing/mastering workhorse as most of the other daws as ProTools/Cubase/StudioOne/Reaper/Sonar/Logic/etc. Autofades/fades are just a convenience, not something essential you would abuse on a regular basis. So for now, what Bitwig already offers with that "gain expression" is really enough for the few fading duties we encounter as producers. (unless you're more a sound engineer which works with audio tracks/samples most of his time, but if you'd be one you wouldn't look at Bitwig by default.)

    Cheers.

At the end of the day, the most important thing regarding DAWs is that you have one which enables you to have an efficient workflow without sacrificing quality. I have tested bitwig a lot now and have made the decision to stick with ableton. And that is because I love the modular workflow plus it is the most robust workstation I have ever used (coming from fl/pt/reason in the past). But hey, bitwig might work better for you and that's great if it does. Just don't go making expensive investments into something unless you are certain it will return good results for you and your music :) Best of luck with future producing.

has been requested many times and it's coming http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=259&t=447926&p=6262326

btw, to the OP the stretching algorithm in Bitwig good only as a special effect so worth to keep the AL license ;) (or buying a Reaper one instead of it) and there is choke groups in its drum machine, so buying a Geist or ... would be necessary, if u are in EDM a Phalanx also a good buying instead of its inbuilt sampler (especially after Live 9.5)

ableton for DAYYYYYSSSSS... but, Bitwig is the only DAW that would compare... but I still like Ableton better... I tried Bitwig last year, but... one thing I LOVE about Ableton that no other DAW has been able to implement is the way you can just click on samples in the browser, and they play absolutely immediately... not in 4 sec... or 5min.. or sometime next week.. but right fucking now... plus, they can be quantized... and guess what?.. the quantize works!! unlike PT's... but anyway, I still find myself more and more, just able to hear a sound once and know that it will work, and just throw it in and go from there (and this all relates to drum sounds). Also, if you trigger a sample, you can trigger it again before it finishes playing through the whole waveform first... hated that shit about Bitwig.. plus, with Bitwig, the hell's with 5-EQ?.. at least have 8-EQ... shit... Ableton just kills though, I fucking absolutely love it now. I own Logic, DP8, Reason 7 (or 8.. cant remember, its been awhile with that). I used PT for quite a bit too, just to be able to move naturally with it, and then make draw a better conclusion on whether it works for me... and I still found myself runnin Ableton into it, just so I could drum tracks fast-as-fuck... which Live helps me do.

Either way mate... though its been said a gazillion times, use whatever works for you... on the other hand, plenty of producers ditched ableton for Bitwig.. so.. though a lot of them, its cuz they have all kinds of outboard shit that they feel Bitwig can work with better than live.

also, I still am annoyed by Live's issues with PDC... and I will not buy it till that's fixed.

I hear you on the fades. I really like fades... If you are the type that makes drum tracks by draggin drum samples right onto the screen (instead playing with midi bullshit or whatever) then you might use fades (to some degree or another) on every fucking sound... so to "that guy" that says that Computer Music did a survey of REAL producers, and they all said, "Fades are for losers..." than whatever, "f" yourself then.... maybe YOU do not use fades... GREAT... maybe he does use them ; )

Have fun makin music though... how ever you do...

some of these replies are priceless. lol but thanks for all the feed back it is quite scary for me to be investing in another daw and make a full mover over to her but hey, ableton is always just another click away. :)
