I found the Hofa reverb to be quite stable. I have yet to experience a bug with it. Maybe your pc needs a format or is underpowered? Too bad, as I really like it. :)

Edited: oh, ReMatrix is quite cool. Not as cpu hungry as you might expect 5 IRs to be.

Nice to know about ReMatrix, definitely gonna give that a shot when i get home from work.

I think i must of had an initial release of the Hofa reverb, and i remember it being one of the buggiest experiences ive ever had with a plugin. The UI would dissapear frequently, and there were other problems with the sound (not related to timebombing or anything). They have prolly been patched in later releases so i might have to give it a second chance.

it was one of the best algo based reverbs out there in 2006, so it stuck in peoples heads. i used it longer too. found the GUI simple there and easy to work, also the Cpu saving worked great for me.

i tried Max7 and the simple LFO device, the cpu usage doubles when i turn on the LFO and compare with Max6.
not to talk about the Convolution reverb in ableton. if they would get this sorted, which they try now since forever (ok since max7 is released, but even max6 had poor performance for some devices)

yes its simple like everythign what ableton does, but it would be nice if they could go and provide it as native device instead of max4live sh*t.

I second @ArticStorm . Reverberate fits best what you are looking for.

Yeah i agree with you on that, M4L takes way too much CPU and it would be nice if it was built in to the DAW itself like Bitwig has it setup. I haven't actually tried bitwig but the features seem pretty promising, but Ableton has just been out for so long and is tried & tested and I know it so well that I'm not trying to learn a whole new DAW right now. At least now Ableton has competition cause for a while they weren't innovating at all, maybe it will force change, or face the consequence of becoming irrelevant.

Yes, I would give them both a shot. I've had both run very, very well for me personally. I found Hofa's built in library to be a bit more impressive than rematrix's. But the options rematrix provides may be very useful to some people. I've found that a single IR usually does it for me. But rematrix is certainly a lot of fun to use. Give it a go. I think that many of the convolvers mentioned in this thread would be a good choice. I'm actually going to be testing out Reverberate 2 today as well. Good thread. :)

IMHO, the best VSTi for a Convolution Reverb with ease of use and quick results is Audio Thing's Fog Convolver. Hands Down! Quick Drag and Drop of Impulse Responses, and quick aceess to the most important parameters for ease of use and adjustments equates to exceptional resultes.
