Thank the Audio gods @ Ableton for that very same feature in Live where you can slice to a new instrument or a Drum Rack etc. Oh and now Simpler can do it all within... err .....umm Simpler :) As far as using Kontakt to get zero crossing as above, Although it was great way back in the day it was, and still is a headache. I prefer Lives Lo Tech "snap" feature where it takes the fucking about element out of sound design and lets you get on with the creative flow. Oh and the new filters WOW. Who needs Kontakt for its crappy sounding fx and filters which I feel Live and now Falcon will kick dirt in the face of. Kontakt is old old old. Time to move on ;)

even tho kontakt may have a few tricks up its sleeve and also has its massive 3rd party library selection, I still find this more appealing for some reason.

It's "oh my" to anyone without some already-awesome plugins.

To see them as competition to each other is probably not the way to think about them, I'd agree this is more fun to use for sound designing. kontakt is better for what it's designed to do, and very different to Falcon. which rather than trying to be a massive multi sample library sampler is instead more a creative synthesis playground. You'd need to open multi instances of Falcon as no multi cpu support is incorporated yet and different scripting too, so efficiency's are different, They can live side by side depending in what it is you wish to do. I've recently found out 3rd party library' makers have the option of releasing library's without protection or to pay a fee to have uvi work with them to release ufs compressed library's with ilok protection. So we should see content for all types of budgets which is good as uvi library's are a drain on the pocket.

Exactly what I was thinking. When I read the features of falcon I thought, ok, I can do all that easily in Live...

As a buyer of Falcon and Motu Mach5 - I can confirm that Falcon is much better version of Motu's and although are very similar, Falcon is much better and more stable version (on Windows 7). I am un-installing MOTUs Mach now - anyone want to buy it for a knocked down price (it has a nice big box, ha, ha)

I thinking of getting this, i see it has some sort of hybrid of Omnisphere, Kontakt, Serum, Iris 2, & maybe Alchemy although i see no spectral or additive engine. I wonder with it being ilock will it mess up any of my warez plugins?

"iLok"? (any version) Not a fan. Draconian? Absolutely! A deal breaker for me... Just deleted all references (left-overs) and associated programs (lost some really good ones, but it was worth it in the end) from my computer. Not willing to dip my toes back into 'those' frigid waters again. Those who hate it, understand where I'm coming from, those who tolerate it? well... that's a story for another time.

    Well... his handle IS "BlueFielder".

What colors are the Tigers and Lions? Blue.
What team did both father Cecil and son Prince Fielder play for? Tigers

(I still love my Detroit sports despite those teams!)
    GO RED WINGS!!!!!!

Just watched the first trailer for Falcon on their website.

If that's their big splash :woot:, it was lame as hell. Using a sound reminiscent of an OBX synth :guru: that everybody features in their synth presets is pretty weak (IMO)...

Watching the other two videos left me comfortable with the fact that this doesn't come ANYWHERE near Spectrasonic's Omnisphere 2 (or O1 for that matter)... and that it may be overpriced at the current sale price of $229. It sounds a lot like Dune 2 and doesn't feature anything that Tone2's Electra 2 hasn't already failed at... just saying'... here's your grain of salt, BTW.

Are you referring to the iLok licensing strategy, or perhaps iLok's repeated attempts to "hijack" some of my other "legally" owned plugins? Or, maybe its infamous inability to remember which programs are actually licensed under its pervasive umbrella? Or maybe, why in the middle of a project, an iLok message pops up to roundly scold me for NOT having licensing rights to a specific plugin? Is 'that' what you're asking? Hell, I can certainly do without the hassle. Far too many diverse and very good programs available without iLok's intrusive medieval BS. And the aforementioned are just 'some' of the reasons I booted this serpent from my "Garden of Eden".

I'm asking what issues you have with it, I thought the question was simple enough.

I decided to take a punt on it, i was half put off by ilok & also the fact i already have a bunch of synths that can do more stuff than i can imagine. But hey i fancied a new toy.

you are completly wrong , both have its cons and pros , and you also didnt have used Falcon yet , Omnisphere are basically i say the word "Synth" while Falcon are basically an "Workstation" .

whats Omnisphere or Kontakt than ? it is much more expansive than Falcon .

Say rosko: Sorry if I came across as an asshole, Not usually my style here or elsewhere. But, the above brief list of aggravations I outlined are just a few reasons for my disgruntlement with iLok's anti-piracy implementation.

I guess i will find out for myself soon enough, I know you are not alone in having beef with ilok as it seems an instant disregard for many. But i thought i'll take the risk.

Hey rosko! Shit, you never know, man. Maybe you won't find it as irritating as some others. If you Google around, there are legions of iLok users that are more than content with the product. I'm simply not one of 'em.

Having spent a few minutes with it, my initial thoughts are that omnisphere isn't' the best comparison. It feels more like kontakt but with the addition of all the oscillators. I certainly don't think its overpriced, it's incredibly deep & imo the sound quality is really high. They have obviously put a great deal of effort into it.
