I will let you guess how old I am, but my first record was a 45 rpm of the Beatles "Yesterday"/"Act Naturally" and my college computer was called a typewriter, although I did have a Commodore 64!

except Vanilla Ice was recently caught stealing bikes and furniture from one of his neighbors for some extra jack...

I agree with your sentiment, but I don't think "Ice Ice Baby"
has that Robert Matthew Van WInkle guy sitting on a cool 13 mil anymore :winker:

And I just got done playing the best 3 hours of guitar I have ever played in my entire life.

    It just keeps on.

Recorded it & will send it to my youngest son. [ he plays too ][he's almost 40]

    Edit:
But in my advanced decrepitude I may have inadvertently misjudged my capabilities. Or maybe all these years of good kind herb have permanently skewed my perspective...

    No.

I get better all the time. How cool is that? That's what most of you have to look forward to.:winker:

I'm guessing most of the 40+ in here have been into audio warez from floppy disk swapping days?

I remember Ringo singing Act naturally on Rubber Soul but I was born 2 years after that album came out.
Since you bought the single I would guess that you were at least 13 when you bought it so that would make
you around 61-62 years of age. You did ask us to guess so was I close?

Yeah they might just be too mature for you to handle.
Best that you just go head to a younger topic!

I agree. I have a daughter who helps me keep on practicing as she loves singing.
She asks me to back her up on the guitar regularly which keeps the cobwebs from forming.
This keeps the old fingers supple enough to keep getting better.
A fine mature wine comes to mind smoothripple.

I found that once I got past my early twenties and had already started out on the left hand path of an audio lifer as a teenager, Quite honestly the age of fellow audio lifer's evaporated/never entered my mind. It is such a niche area yet so vast, I've never followed any trends and I am always hungry to learn more from any and every source possible and also gladly willing to share my own humble honest opinion/experiences aswell. It all started with a classical guitar with horrendous action, Then sprilalled into the abyss fairly fast. My weak area is synthesis which I do try to brush up on quite often but it has just never clicked the way stringed instruments did for me, Not so much in being able to dial in sounds which I like/enjoy but more so the playing aspect (Although I am not by any means a sound design wizard!). I'm a lefty/cack handed yet have always picked up and continued guitar and bass like a right handed player...It just has never translated very well over to piano/keyboard that way for me. I think it is just an area I need practice on (but then being the way that I am wired that means less time dedicated to the guitar amongst other things. It is difficult to find a balance). Perhaps alot better master controller keyboard is what I should be putting on my gear list. I like the sound of this fairly newly released one https://www.roli.com/products/seaboard-rise (It has to be better than an a nasty old and haggard Korg K49 right?)

All the best to everyone as always :)

not exactly, but I do remember when "fruity loops" was a junky little program appearing on irc in fileserve channels,
it looked like such a joke...( and acquired with a 56kbps dial up modem )

I turned up my nose and went back to my Tascam 414 mkII

I was a little kid in the 60's, I think what I remember the most musically was the early 70's.
I had to endure my moms soft rock ha, I was listening to Led Zep, Aerosmith, Stones, Pink Floyd... some great songs in that era.

The 60's carried over a little, hippies was still around. Where did all the VW Beatles and buses go ha

Then came the alternative and punk generation. mid to late 70's + music was alive then and evolving.
