    Could buy a raspberry pi and load it with XBMC for around the same price. They even have windows 10 capabilities on the new raspberry pi's. There are other microprocessor cards that are more powerful than the rasp pi's as well now. If all else fails, you could even get an android stick with more options than a chromecast card.

    Personally I use a dedicated computer that I bought for cheap off craigslist. Anyone can find a cheap tower or laptop for around $50, and it will do far more than chromecast, roku or amazon fire TV shit will allow you to do for around the same price.

    I personally us X me XBMC on a fire stick kodi side loaded can even run movies from my NAS

    I mean, it's always about what you want the damn thing to do...

    I'm considering going for a Fire TV Stick right now. I'm a long time amazon Prime subscriber anyways, and unlike the Chromecast, it doesn't need a shitty iOS / Android app to control it. Sure, 50$ could probably buy me a decent used micro PC or a Raspberry, but... fuck it. I just want the thing to play my Amazon / Netflix content, that's it. I have my PC for everything else. So... it really depends on what you're going to use the thing for.
