So cool! Wonder what the the vst equivalent to that would be, not talking about vocoders of course.

There is Talkbox JR from Gospel.
I've been tempted to buy a talkbox for years... maybe its time to loosen some teeth!

Pretty cool! Used to have one yrs ago and it got stolen.Takes awhile to get down,a lot of exaggerated mouth movements to shape/sound out certain words. It's kinda tricky. You get better at it over a period of time though. I had a Heil,I ran it from a guitar amp,and would plug a synth in to the amp.Rocktron makes an amped one though.Usually use a sawtooth patch of some sort.

Roger Troutman used a Yamaha dx100,and tweaked a sawtooth patch. There's a guy on ebay that had a bunch of killer talkbox patches for the dx synths.I used to think about using another pc with FM8 installed and see if it would work using some dx patches.Never tried though. But I don't think there's a lot involved on the synth side... Other than playing or sequencing the notes with the right kind of patch.

Cool post! I dig talkbox stuff.

The hardware is incredibly simple. Made one when I was a kid. Line out from your chosen instrument to a small box [just large enough to house a 3" to 6" speaker]. Signal runs into a small amplifier [just enough wattage to power the speaker, 1/2 watt should be enough - make one easily using an LM386 IC]. The speaker needs to be completely enclosed in the box except for a round opening for a convenient length of 1/2" diameter plastic hose directly opposite the center of the speaker [for a guitar player standing up to a mic onstage I would make it at least 7 feet long preferably more]. The sound goes from instrument > input of small amp in box > speaker > tubing > mouth at microphone. The mouth acts as a resonance chamber for the sound [like when we say 'ouch'].

The guy in the video uses it pretty well IMHO.

Before I bought my Banshee2 (I recommend) I dig a lot if a vst can can do the job.
Software maker said that this kind of fx needs a lot of processing power to recreate... so I spent a good money and with almost 200% of taxes.
Here in Brazil I payed 3 times what an USA guy pay.

For me this is the definitive talkbox tune. I saw them play this live as they were touring promoting this album & it changed my musical direction. It was like seeing lightning for the first time. Also made me research & build a talkbox.

If you really need to skip to the talkbox part start at about 7:45 but you would miss what is IMHO the best Rock Tune of the 20th century.
