I know it's so old but it's good enough for me.

Used to run M-Audio stuff. It's crap.
Used to run RME stuff. Nice.
Used to run Avid stuff. Meh.

    Focusrite Saphire pro 40

Had RME (nice but waaaaaaaay overpriced) A Presonus (worst pre-amps EVER)

The focusright has lovely stock pre's, low latency, rock solid drivers, loadsa in/outs and awesomely priced...

Well it seems that i'm the only one that have the Audient Id22.

Really well sounding, nice and real analogue pres and for me the best monitoring adventage in the market for an home studio audio interface out there.

Try the Audient ID22, you don't be dissapoint with it. For me better sounding than Rme and Apollo. Real analogue pres and you will love the monitoring pros.

    Edirol FA-101.

It was cheap and it has plenty of inputs and drives headphones nicely.

native instruments audio 10, liked the price and the amount of inputs, the outputs i use on occasions when i DJ with 4 decks, which doesnt happen very often as it's a pain to take a macbook, 2 controllers, a mixer and an extra screen to dj-gigs. sound is good and it's very sturdy

Don't know if i like it yet, had it for three months. Was a motu guy for years. NO DIRECT INS IS CRAZY. Updates might stop one day.. knowing yamaha. Using on OS X direct monitoring is awesome with cubase zero latency! Reverb is so sweet.

    Going for RME NEXT>>>>

    in short:

    For sound quality : UAD
    For stability, ergonomics : RME

UAD uses the PGA2500 with the best implementation. The ADC is less relevant these days, even Cirrus Logic can make an excellent ADC.
So it's all about which preamp chip, and how it is supplied with power, length of internal electronic paths, isolation, experience in audio design, etc...

The downside with UAD is their software/plug-in which performs poorly and also limited OS-compatibility.

Amazon.Com Review lol RME Babyface usb 2.0 with Breakout Cable

Can this replace crappy Windows sound card? Enhance sound quality for WAV and MP3's exported from DAWs like Reason, Cubase, Adobe Audition?
    Answer:
Absolutely my friend. This is a pro. Audio card. You can do a professional recording with this and send it to record companies. Top end. If price is issue look at roland audio cards too. Cheaper and do the same job. I bought tri by roland very cheap and good card. But this rme is up there withe best. Good luck :). Wha… see more
