Rob Papen is all about sound and he was convinced he could add something special to the EQ plugins.

The toolbox includes a Mid/Side equalizer mode and Mono/Stereo split filter which is used frequently in modern EDM/Dance music styles. The Air section is fantastic on your master channel and the proven X/Y Pad adds a dynamic and creative edge to an already very musical RP-EQ.

In true Rob Papen style, RP–EQ comes with many great presets to get you started and with the ‘sound’ of RP-EQ you will have a great go to plug-in for your top notch music productions!

RP-EQ for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/AAX) is available for purchase for € 79 / $89 USD.

I'd probably try it if I could get my hands on a copy (which I doubt, but that's a different discussion) but I think he comes a bit late with that. I doubt I would use this over my tried and trusted FabFilter Pro-Q2. I guess it's quite a bit cheaper than that particular plugin so it still has upside and possible grounds to carve out its own market share though.

EDIT: I guess it has some features the Pro-Q2 doesn't have, so maybe I was a little too harsh in my first assessment. Still I think I'd prefer using specific plug-ins made for those purposes when I need to. But I guess some people may find it nice to be able to use a single plug-in for those things. It's all about trade-offs between workflow, convenience and control ability.

I used to feel this way. Now my thinking is, the less plugins in my chain, the less CPU use (usually), the better. Also potentially less latency.

However, for saturation, it's definitely better to use a designated plug IMO. So you're right there. That one is too important and too varied to just entrust it to a module on an EQ.

This looks like a very useful EQ. The price point is about right on it, I think. It could/should probably be a touch cheaper, but when you compare it to things like Waves Q10 :)deep_facepalm:) it starts looking like a hell of a bargain. My only problem with it is, like almost everything else from RP, the interface feels more cluttered than it needs to be. Some of the layout is kind of nonsensical too. Why on earth is the first parameter instead of frequency and then gain?

However, I'm with you in that Pro-Q2 is all I need. Most of the time even that is overkill and I just use Ableton's EQ8 (which is an absolutely fantastic native plugin). For instance, the mono/stereo splitter on this thing is nice, but it's easy to just high pass the sides in M/S with ProQ/2 or EQ8.

    Rob makes some nice plugs.

Some a bit hit & miss but some really good. Not a bad price either I guess. Would be good to give it a try.

Might download the demo if there is one & see how it compares to some other stuff

What's it like, u used it yet? any good
