These blocks are really something else and with the improved DSP quality there is potential for just the most unbelievable ensembles in the future from both users, third party software makers, and NI itself. They will also sound fan-freakin-tastic. Just some of the user blocks that will come out will make endless possibilities. The future is VERY BRIGHT for us audio junkies! I for one can't wait to see what is to come. Apologies for any bad grammar and spelling...lol

With R5, there were already a LOT of possibilities...but at the end, R5 user lib was full of not-so-great/not-so/impressive ensembles.
So NI decided to push some of them and collaborate with some Reaktor devs (like Tim Exile) with really innovative projects.
Or directly make some themselves, like Monark.
So yes, possibilities are amazing. But at the end, serious/innovative projects will still be few

    Sure. Million blocks. One voice.

Blocks - just a colorful macros. Nothing more. Nothing new. They just presented it as a template, and made it possible to share. Thats all.

Yes i can. It brings BLOCKS. :hahaha:

theyy really stepped up the game with v6, i recently started learning it and its incredible easy and fast, i really like it.
i am sure they will add more possibilities with every new version.
some more vintage stuff would be awsome, but the user library will provide this.

  6. An awful lot more of this:

I watched some kind of studio tour I got from our sister site. I won't say who, but this dude did movie themes, good ones. And at the end he showed off his modular eurorack, which was like at least half an acre huge. And blinking silver blue and red.And he started plugging things into things and turning knobs, and it was obvious he didn't know what he was doing. Hey! That's really interesting! he says. Only it really wasn't. It was like him playing the picollo with his farts.

So some stuff will be to die for. Mostly it will just die.

I suspect that there will be lots of crappy sounds made with flashy lights and cool looking knobs. Maybe if we get lucky something great will come a long but i figure that will take months

With very little work, I managed to cobble together an ensemble in v6 that did no more and no less than emit sounds that I like. That's really useful No need to insert a cpu hogging instrument on a track for just one waveform. Primary & Core stuff? Lovely stuff.

But sounds alone don't sell synths. Looks are important, too. I tried to skin my creation. Make a good-looking gui and shit - and the byzantine mess of the albeit brilliant macros pissed me off. It seems that by lobbing in a few Blocks I can have any colour of text and borders that I like, so long as it's Goth Black.

What's that you say, NI? All musicians are shite at doing decent graphics, so we'll keep their hideously calloused fingers out of the artbox? Yeah... okay.

    ffs

You could be right on the button there, Fudsey Plange and Pipotron3000.

It is an evolution (a nice one) but not a revolution.
Real revolutions take time...and so become less revolutionary

  10. This is one of the challenges for Reaktor Blocks. Probably the best modulars ever.

Challenge here is not in features/modulations (R6 can do much more) but in the sound itself.
For now, nothing can beat modulars. I seen ppl (like Celldweller) using only software...apart their modular for inspiration ;)

But frankly, soft synths improved a lot, like Aalto. You get a very similar low end punch and aggressive highs.
I think now R6 is ready to compete, because Monark was already on the way.

Well the way I see it is if you don't have thousands to spend on a modular then Reaktor 6 is the next best thing. I just think with the improvements in sound quality that this will make for way better creations. Hey I'm just happy to be alive during these times.

    maybe not quite :)
there is still some other stuff to explore
    AudioGl
    maybe defunkt now?

    and the mighty Virtual Analog
    Scope Modular

but Reaktor is beast, and maybe the "confinment" of blocks is a good thing.

the thing with software (often times) is that a wrong connection maybe not reacting at all
but in the anloge world would still gives "some" result or output.

You should be asking yourself, What are YOU going to bring To REAKTOR? for it was always a Beast inside waiting to be tinkered with!

I lost interest as soon as I realized that Blocks are an incomplete thought!

If you decide to create blocks which should resemble analog modules, then you should also re-imagine how to connect these blocks, without entering the actual ensembles to connect that shit. That's just stupid. They should have done it like reason: some jacks and virtual cables. But no, if I want a simple Monark module, I have to setup the MIDI Triggering and Amp section as well? I have no patience for that shit. Just route the signal through the next fucking block when I attach it. Don't make me do this shit, when I am in production mode and want to get shit done and not zone out on some Silver-Apples-on-the-Moon-Shit :D

You can save your own templates. But yes. This is annoying. And ofc no proper poly midi trigger nor proper poly oscilators/amplitude modulators/etc. It seems to be just another useless toy.

  20. Yes! And Spektral Delay!
