    Hi folks,

Joined to pass this info on.
Hopefully it helps someone who might be in the predicament I have been in all day....

For anyone who may have or are thinking of upgrading to OSX 10.11 El Capitan,
Apple has implemented SIP (System Integrity Protection) and have taken out the ability to disable SIP.
SIP restricts you from having access to system folders such as /usr/lib/

If any of you are using Altiverb or McDSP you will not be able to copy the libstdc++.6.0.9.dylib file over to eliminate the authorization prompts. Therefore you will lose these plugins.

    HOWEVER.....

I searched and searched all day and came up with the following fix:

Boot into recovery partition. (Hold Command + R when booting)

Open a terminal window from the top menu. (I forget which its under but this is easy)

    type in:

    csrutil disable

It will tell you you have Succesfully disabled System Integration Protection.

    Reboot

    go to /usr/lib/
Copy your libstdc++.6.0.9.dylib into that folder (after backing up the one in the folder of course)

Open Logic and you're back to normal.

So far I have not been able to get Arturia or Native Instruments plugins to work.
Anyone have a fix for those or do we just have to wait for NI to update?

I really hope this helps over the next few weeks as people update to 10.11 and find their plugs broken.

    T

Awesome! So glad this helped someone! :)

Izotope works! At least RX does....
Go into plugin manager and rescan the izotope plugs and check "use" on the right.
I do tons of restoration work with Izotope RX and was sweating to get these working again.

I'm not too worried about the NI or Arturia stuff at this time, but I'm gonna need to access my Output stuff in Kontakt soon so hopefully someone comes up with a workaround (or new version).

Thanks, very much! That's both very impressive work and pre-emptive thoughtfulness. I've copy/pasted it into a text file, for future reference.

Myself, having gone from Snow Leopard to Yosemite over the past two years (skipping Lion and Mavericks), I'm content with Yosemite, and intend to hang back in it for a while, until software upgrades force me to OSC 10.11 (and thereafter). Already, my Adobe Premiere CS6 won't work in Yosemite (though the rest of CS6 does); I have a dual-boot into Mountain Lion for it, and for the sake of (not "in memoriam of") Logic Pro 9.18, Pro Tools 10.3.10, and other such applications (and some plug-ins as well). As for El C., though it's supposedly considerable faster/more efficient that Yosemite, its new features alone aren't enough to coax me into rendering significant software suddenly deprecated or obsolete. It's when the inverse is imposed upon me that I'd do the migration thing.

If you are having problems with Logic after installing the El Capitan Gm, here is the fix:

    1. I created a small partition (60GB) on an external HDD
    - downloaded and installed Mavericks system
    -installed on it LPX (10.2.0)
    -installed NI kontakt/Massive/Battery 4
    -test the functionality
    - all OK
    2. I created a new folder (FIX) in Mavericks and put in the following:
    - components NI kontakt/Massive/Battery 4
    -NI kontakt VST/Massive/Battery 4
    user/library/caches folder AudioUnitCache
    -HD/library/caches file: com.apple.Components2.LocalCache.AudioComponents
3.I returned to El Capitan GM and replaced all the files with the files from the folder Fix.

    Yo lo probe y funciono.

    Thank you AlexSublime.
So.... This means the NI stuff DOES work in 10.11

Any chance you could upload the files you copied over to a wetransfer link?
Seems you have the fix there!

Agreed, but I'm (obviously) a tinkerer and risk taker, so I figured I'd make the move. :)

Running nice and smooth so far!

    @AlexSublime Could backing up:

    -components NI kontakt/Massive/Battery 4
    -NI kontakt VST/Massive/Battery 4
    user/library/caches folder AudioUnitCache
    -HD/library/caches file: com.apple.Components2.LocalCache.AudioComponents

before upgrading to El Capitan and then restoring the files after update solve the problem? Have any idea?

Dude! You're a lifesaver with this - works a charm! You can get Kontakt working again in Logic by using Blue Cat's Patchwork.. find @ audioz.eu

Quite clever, sir! Also, look into Logic themes. It will make your Logic sexier, if you are into customizing your daws!

From Native Instruments: Under El Capitan, it's as simple as reinstalling kontakt, massive, reaktor etc.

One would hope, but FUCK Apple for making us jump through hoops to get some of this basic stuff to work. I may hold off for a while for the first time ever on a new OS update since there are still tons of these sort of niggles at this late stage.

Thank You, TISGOD, great info here. great discussion, thanks everyone for the updated info!

Also, my past experience with OSX upgrades, has been to install everything smoothly in a previous OSX that works, then use the Applications > Utilities > Migration Assistant.app, to transfer the files/folders to new OSX. Haven't tried El Capitan yet, but this has worked for Mavericks and Yosemite issues, in the past.

    Happy Mac Computing :)

I have no idea why people even bother upgrading to a new OS as soon as it's available. When you're doing something like music production something almost always doesn't work. It's usually a better option just to wait a few months, by this stage the majority of bugs will have been ironed out.

after receiving an email from native instruments earlier it seems the problems with the NI plugs will persist after El Capitans official launch.

looks like i am going to hold off updating
