I was an FL user too. Studio One v2 was good too. It's still better than v3 in certain things.

Say, I forgot to mention "Cool Edit". Between that and Goldwave, I've chopped, sliced, diced and basted thousands of audio files. I believe it 'still' works in later Windows environments... If you don't want to go the trouble of digging it up, let me know. No problem.

Guess i am the only bitwig User, this daw is a revolution for me. however, i always used cubase since 1996 with lots of fun but it is too expensive for me to buy the latest version. also studio one is a great daw. but Bitwig is the first daw that let's me create a track the easy way.

Say Madman, I feel your pain. Even though it's certainly not my "go-to" DAW, it's overall usability is not too bad. I listed three DAWS (read 'em) that I use more or less frequently, but Bitwig (can't quite place my finger on it) leaves a little something (at least for me) to be desired. Hey, fellow audiophile, whatever keeps you in a creative mode!

the scratchpad temporary shared clip linking using the Listen Tool is quite nice in v3, with it the variations can be listened back in the original arrangement(and vice-versa) , so no need session clips like solutions anymore for quick idea>song building

ofc. it uses its own automations these times instead of the origl,

for non S1 users the scratchpad (Intro Variation block on the right side) same as one row in session view of Live, or one pattern in the Channel Rack of FL Studio (just in S1 u can drop any clips from any rows back into the arrangement not just a whole pattern with all the contained clips)

I cut my teeth on Vision DSP 4.2 back in the golden days of Mac OS 9. Still has the best audio editing features I've ever seen, though its MIDI implementation was terrible. For MIDI, I wound up using DP 3, which had incredible MIDI features but terrible audio functionality, then porting MIDI 1 files over to Vision for audio recording/mixing. These days, I use DP 8, and while they've improved the audio side a great deal, it's still clunky to edit and mix on. I'm about to delve into Pro Tools 10, which I've never used before, and I'm hopeful that it'll function in the same manner my old DP 3/Vision DSP setup once did.

For whoever said they wanted to combine FL Studio with Harrison Mixbus, it's extremely easy to actually do that. Mixbus is designed to be used as a front end for another DAW, and all you have to do is setup Jack OSX and run or record all your audio from FL to Mixbus.

For me I love logic I have done so since logic 7 . I started off learning with reason but found myself limited, with logic I could take my creativity to another level and haven't looked back . I did try protools but I just couldn't get on with it like logic plus It just became to expensive for the pci cards and interface upgrades . Logic wins my vote

I prefer FL simply because it allows me to write the music without a need of having any instrument. If I think about it of course the best thing would be having the instrument but let's go to the real thing and avoid any 'what if'. Is just great for my situation, plus I have Kontakt as a VST and that opens a thousand doors to write any kind of things I want.
I don't know about other DAWs, didn't see many of them honestly but as far as I know I can tell you can't write your music 'manually' like with FL Studio, and if there are similar ones I still choose FL cause I'm kinda already familiarized with it and I'm more than happy with it (except when trying to bend a note, is a goddamn pain in the ass).

exactly! there is no DAW that is better than the other, people shouldnt get into petty arguements over it. It is all up to the user... I laugh when i see noobie producers go nuts when they see that their favorite producer uses the same DAW as them... it doesnt matter....

I started on FL Studio way back in the day when it was still called fruity loops, but I switched to REAPER a few years ago. It has way more functionality & customization. Bit I did really love how FL Studio had the little pics in the plugin picker. I wish reaper had something like that...

    REAPER ROCKS!!!!

I feel the best DAW is the one YOU like the best:)

For me that is Reaper. Just wish they would fix their Vst3 problems soon. I do like Studio One 2 ( not sure about 3 yet. Need to play with it more.), but Reaper an I seem to agree on most things ... except waves, anyone get cobalt working on w10 pro. If so how?

CARNiVOR, if you mean icons for tracks there are TONS of icons out there people have made, including ones for individual plugins. Check out the Reaper forum and seach them out. A whole thread there is dedicated to that stuff:)
    Cheers!

Bitwig is finally getting more usable with the 1.2 version, although is still bit unstable

    1:00 - high dpi interface
    1:50 - new factory content
    2:55 - keyboard commands
    5:20 - midi mappings
    7:46 - Larger clips
    8:42 - device inspector panel
    14:20 - group tracks
    19:10 - templates
24:15 - oscilloscope and visual changes
    30:38 - Polyphonic aftertouch
    32:38 - multiple device enable/disable
    34:40 - frequency note display
    36:08 - Sampler improvements
    38:34 - delay-4
    45:10 - Ring Mod Sidechain
    49:05 - new browser

(thx for Gísli Karl Gíslason )

the missing chord track feature in it can be replaced with J74ProgressiveSE (which has a MAX based SE version finally)

NORA also a very handy (as u can in the video :) ) any chopped chord fragment can be pitch shifted too(with +- X semitones) so priceless if u are in trance(it's missing from the video this is why I've mentioned it)
