Compress For Success; Limiter no6 and Molot

    Lately we have had much talk about compressors, how they work and how to use them. I just wanted to remind the community and also to introduce to some newcomers two great and free members of the dynamics family,Vlag/Sound Limiter no.6 and it's sibling, the compressor Molot. They are both high quality tools that can help make your tracks and mixes shine. Limiter no.6 has a learning curve, but once you get a grip on all of it's functionality your time spent and experimentation will be well worth it. And Molot is not for the weak at heart, if you want or need transparent you just gotta look someplace else. If you haven't yet tried and or used them, or if you have them installed and all they do is sit all dusty in the back of of your vst folder, maybe now is the time to throw them on the screen and give them a spin.

    Thanks for heads up, I have none in my folder and I actually wanted to get Limiter No6 few days ago and even today after seeing you talking about it in another thread, now i must :mates:

    Never really got around Limiter Nº6 interface. Sometimes excessive skeuomorphism doesn't really help to increase intuitiveness. Soundwise, it's absolutely great, though.

    Molot, on the other hand, is one of the best compressors out there, freeware or commercial. It's perfect for vocals.

    Limiter No6 is great. Almost always use its clipper, but the rest of it is great as well.

    If you dont like the skin there is a handful of others out there they will probably look better for you. The ENV1 skin is my favorite.

    Also check out his work in Tokyo Dawn Labs, some amazing plugins in there that I think a lot of people just pass over.
