    Hello my friends,

I have got a Focusrite Scarlett Solo and it's an amazing device...
Except for one thing ... The volume knob seems to have issues as the right channel is stronger and louder than the lefty. I have even changed another device that I returned because of the exact same problem but this one has got it too. And that led to me listening to monitor too loud which I believe this is the case, and my ears now have problems already can't do anything for almost a week!!

So long story short I want to replace my scarlett with something else but don't know what I can come up within this price range that is as good. *if my ears get better, I wish* ...

So please guide me with what I can choose, I do everything like electronic, instruments (guitars etc) and vocal recordings so I need inputs too.

Thank you in advance and please wish me good luck.

Rule of thumb is Focusrite&Steinberg, try Steinberg this time, score second hand UR-22

I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Worked perfectly for me for years and i regularly switch it between my desktop and laptop as it's super portable.

No it's not that. It happens with the low volumes, As I turn the knob up ... It has a point where both sides get balanced. So annoying u know

that sounds fucked, are you 100% it's not your monitors. do headphones react the same with the interface? not wanting to make you sound stupid.

i'm aware the OT is about interfaces/soundcards but it's best to be 100% sure that the interface is the problem.

if it's a problem with the SOLO's can this be fixed with a driver update? have you checked for the latest?

have you been able to test the unit on a different system?

I personally own a Scarlett 2i2, but I heard the Presonus Audiobox USB offers excellent performance for the money too :)

I have tested it from bottom to the top, With headphone it's the same, different headphones and the same result. even went further and changed the left and right monitors output and this time the left monitor (which was connected to R) got louder.

This unit that I got as replacement was a little better than the first one but now it's got even worse.

Driver is the latest. bought this like a month ago.
There seems to be some problem with the volume knob which controls both headphones and monitors.
This doesn't really matter as my ears got fucked up but really if I get better I don't wanna go near to any faulty devices like this. I'm afraid of it. looks like a red devil sitting on my desk now lol

Don't you have the problem I have? Can you please check it with low volumes, very low and give me back the results? I'd appreciate it.
I might go with 2i2 if there is no problems like the Solos' have.

another vote for UR-22, well worth the reasonable price even new, good clean noise free pres, sturdy box,
straightforward and simple, can't think of anything to complain about for this price range

I down vote the UR-22. I had a I88x it was great until windows 7 came out and Yamaha stopped the drivers support. So if you are content with paying a lot and staying on the same OS you have that is drivers supported. Great buy one. Other wise look else where, Yamaha and Steinberg have the same motto.
Only one OS per device. Get a better foucsrite unit or a different vendor.I have a Sapphire Pro 40 not one issues yet.

not everyone will be a fan... but just to add, have used the UR-22 on both win 7 and 8 machines, and a mac with 0 issues,
not one hiccup of the drivers in fact, a far far cry from other low end options ( asio4all, m-audio drivers )

For my part, I use the Presonus AudioBox Itwo, and I'm happy with it.

still rocking my M-Audio Audiophile 192 PCi, tried the Focusrite 24(Firewire, thank good i send this one back, because nobody has a firewire connection anymore and also saved a lot money) and some USB M-Audiocard, this thing wasnt working either. cant believe this was in 2009/2010.

the audiophile still working without problems, the computer was on around 70% in this 5 years.
