Avast is pretty great, I use it. It gets turned off when downloading warez 'n samples, and turned back on after installation. No problems with it so far.
On Audioz though, you don't really ever need any antivirus running.
Other sites however...that's a different story.

 

I'm using McAfee I think it is good for Mac & PC.
Microsoft Security Essentials is good for windows 7 its light and quiet.

Free : Comodo Security with ONLY antivirus and firewall enabled at install (advanced options).
Zero troubles on more than 20 computers.

Malwarebytes free (not 30 days demo) check from time to time...but it found nothing with Comodo ;)

 

hello, all antivirus program seekers,

there exist more free programs still, called clam, clamwin, also clamsecure, here.

when it does not run in the tray, it does not consume any cycles from your valued processor, then for scanning something, you have to start the main program.

daily database updates are there, downloadable from the program, manually or automatically, making this into one of the most convenient solutions.

im another avast user,
very easy to turn it off for 10 mins when installing keygens.
avast also has boot sector scanning options, very handy.
i also use superantispyware free edition and ccleaner.

 

I do the exact same thing as pipotron3000 with COMODO internet security. smallest foot print antivirus i found. have to click customize on installation though and de-tick comodo dragon and geek buddy

It's a pity you aren't in the UK. All you have to do is open an account with Barclays Bank, and you get KIS free for as long as you bank with them.

They're on version 8.0.312.0 currently. But yes I find it to be the best. I have used it on one of my computers ever since version 3 many years ago without ever having a problem.

Linux Mint 17.2 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2019 . I think it's going to take me until 2019 to learn how to install it.
