Ok guys maybe you can help me out.
Lately Iam felt in love with sound design so I decided to start creating my own patches.
But now I am concerned with sound classification. I dont know names for certain sounds and this is bothering me. at the moment I know about:
subbass (808..)
bassline( growls,yoi,trance rolling,resse,stabs.....?)
leads(??)
keys(piano,rhodes..?)
pads(?)
fx(sweeps,risers, boom...?)

but it need more specific. Can you help me out?

its probably good to add LD,808,BS,KS,PD,SUB. Basically the first and last letters of each category that you want to classify. Then you can add version numbers if you wanna go a little further. If you think its gonna be used for a specific project then you can add the project name in there too.

Many sound designers do not distinguish a arpeggiator from a sequencer, so I also do that with same none accuracy.

The fact is that most suppliers do not care much about a good classification and HUGE libraries like Zebra and Massive need more folders indeed. But its a personal thing, that works for me and I need to be fast as I am payed by hour.

can you describe what are you mean by "gates" ,"lfo" , "dance" , "sync sound" in main folder

 

I love giving names to things. If you want cool names send me your categorized folders with short samples of each patch and I will give them cool names for you. No charge and avec plaisir.

 

Gate: instruments of that the compress cuts the sound in rhythmic, most famous in trance styles.
LFO: things with wobbles, random oscillators, vibratos, panning... everything that oscillates.
Dance: instruments that are style driven, with folders for each style that pollutes.
Sync sounds: I love a good sync sound, where the oscillator are synced generating a fat sound with some distortion.

I think it depends on your personality, I mean how you are. I saw above a very good answer and it's valid of course but I have so many things on my PC that doing it that way would be like a mess in my opinion, so what I do is to order them by company name - product. I feel it more 'in order' in that way, but as I said before, it depends on how you are I believe.
