    What's good y'all,

First post here, was wondering if anybody could help me out and tell me a method to achieve a luscious and rich pad/bass sound, such as the one found in this track (Not the background vocals):

Appreciate all help, shoot me a PM or reply here.

    Stay blessed up,

    $ully.

Made a quick replication: click me (first half is a part of the song, 2nd half the replication, soundcloud visualisations seem to be broken for whatever reason)

The sound consists of 5 elements/layers:
1.) Sub Bass - a simple sine wave
2.) Unison Saw Bass - A Saw osc (I actually used two) with a bit of unison and a 18dB/oct HighCut at about 250Hz
3.) Higher soft sound - Two unision saw waves that are 2 octaves and 7 semitones higher than the bass. They have a slightly more prominent unison than the bass and have two filters: a soft High- and soft Low-Cut (so basically a bandpass) around 200-500Hz
4.) White Noise - White Noise with LowCut at 200Hz and really gentle HiCut at around 500Hz
5.) Reverb - the 3rd and 5th layer go into a medium-big reverb (reverb time ca. 2sec) with boosted highs and cut lows
Did some extra EQing on all elements, but nothing too grave.

    Hope I could help.

Well of course the usual stuff that gets mentioned all the time like "work a lot with sounds" and "experience" etc. but it all comes down to: What do you hear?
If you know how a saw/sin/square/triangle wave sounds like that's the first step. How do those sounds sound like with a LowCut? How with a HiCut? How distorted?
What does a Phaser/Flanger/Unison/reverb/etc. sound like?
    Now what do you hear?
You can use some tools for help like EQs to listen to just the low end or some certain frequency range. Listen into the mid and side signal separately. Does the sound even have a side signal? Yes? Then which procedure makes a mono signal get a side signal that sounds like the sound at hand?
Try different methods that might work, experiment a bit.
In the end it's a balance between knowledge & experience and trial & error.
Maybe if I can find the time I can make a tutorial forum post kinda thingy.

Well yeah more or less. I did not study stuff like sound design (not sure if you can even study that) but oudio engineering related things that really helped me.
