    Hi all,

First up, Hi. Haven't posted on here before so thopught I'd start wth a hello (manners and all that)

Is anyone else having an issue with some patches in Omnisphere 2?
It seems to load a few then I'll load another and it glitches hard then throws up a sample rate related error message. From that point, unless I restart it, it will continue to glitch.
This can happen with just one patch running.

I am using this inside Logic X (latest version) on a 2011 macbook pro with 16GB ram.
I am also using an Edirol FA-66 sound card.

I have tried changing audio buffers and sample rates etc

    Anyone else suffering with this?

Anyone got any ideas on this?
Still have the more CPU heavy patches causing audio to glitch, even with everything else bounced down to audio

How many samples of latency are you allowing? Are you running ASIO?

The OP has a Mac running LPX so no such thing as ASIO drivers!

No problems running multiple O2 instances under LPX 10.2 and 10.10.5 here so it's likely to be your Mac and/or Audio interface drivers simply cannot handle the load...

Therefore, Freeze or Bounce In Place tracks to reduce load

    https://support.apple.com/kb/PH12954?locale=en_US

However, if you mean it glitches when you try and add a new instance of O2 or change patches while LPX is still playing back then its likely the problem is your internal Hard Drive and/or i/o simply isn't fast enough to handle the loads passing through it. As a temp fix, simply stop playback before adding/changing patches.

To help with this make sure you quit ALL other apps running in the foreground or background including any 'waste of time' anti virus ware. Also turn off Time Machine while running LPX while remembering to re-enable it afterwards!

Use Etracheck for a quick way to identify what is and isn't actually running plus any Adware which can also slow things down.

Also ensure your system drive has at least 20% free space available on it. (OS X needs room to 'breathe') Less than 20% free will slow down the overall performance of your Mac.

Finally, if you are using an external Hard Drive make sure it is not a USB2 drive as USB2 places quite a load on I/O resources and will slow your system down while the system is accessing it, Switch to an 7200rpm or SSD drive connected via FW800 or Thunderbolt (Given your Mac is a 2011 without USB3) for much better I/O performance.

There was a setting in Omnisphere 1 a few years back to do with resources or buffer or something that helped me with this sort of thing. I forget exactly what it was, but check all omni settings and preferences to see what you can find.

that said, I can't find that anymore in Omni 2.

Some Omni patches hit RAM hard - you could choose the 'lite' version, or play with your 'round robin' setting ..
or freeze when recording.. I also have 16GB RAM, and, nowadays, I feel this is more the minimum spec
