Nice melody but needs some BASS. Thump with 808's the horns need a little bit to push them forward as well. you have some nice work on soundcloud!

I agree with Ned, it's crying out for a stomach churning bass. and possibly a small amount of swing to the drum pattern.

It has plenty of potential though.

i was thinking to change the kick and add a bass and fix the horns and start removing some snares and making the song shorter in order to do mixing.

there is definitely a good idea in here, but its buried under layers of basic preset drum sounds. and I always hated this when people said it to me way back when; "Sounds like FL." Which we fancy engineers refer to as ITB (in the box.) Now let me explain a few tricks...

    1. Find some sort of BPM calculator. Personally I use whatever site catches my eye on Google. That will give you an easy reference for note lengths in ms (for dynamics processors, sampler settings, etc.) as well as in Hz (for LFOs and... well, I'm sure you'll run across something else. Reaper parameter modulation anybody? :break:)
    2. Do you like reading? I hope so, because now you need to google phrases like "mixing hiphop drums" and "engineering dope ass beats" and "how can i make my snare so sharp it hurts." There is much to learn here. I spent upwards of 40hrs/wk on this shit when I was unemployed.
    3. Did I mention reading yet? Now we're gonna be googling dynamics processors (comp, gate, etc.), reverbs, and delays. they all have different characteristics, and learning when, why, and how to deploy them all properly will take you far. And eq. EQ is clutch.
    4. Ok one more re: reading. Now that you know what plugs you need, you should read all their manuals. Not only will you have a greater understanding of your tools, but the devs often hide tips and tricks in there that make the plugs shine.
    5. LAYER LAYER LAYER. layer basically everything. 4 stereo drum busses pounding away, each a different permutation, including one w/ Permut8, even! two channels of synth lead panned hard L/R, with a slightly different patch running through CMX, into a bus with DimD and RC24 on it! 7 different clap samples panned and time shifted inside your sampler! All worthwhile ideas.
Every time you're in the lab remember "Perfect practice makes perfect." It might sound like I'm full of shit, and I am, but go to http://soundcloud.com/slappsco before you write this off. And read your homework, damnit.:boombox:

Bass. Sticky, greasy, fat, saturated bass.

Slower BPM. Newer trends of hiphop are sequencing drums at half time (You do not have to do that at all, but just FYI). I feel this track in particular is a little too quick.

Incorporate drops, triplet note kicks, hi hats, and snares, etc. Gotta keep listeners listening.

It sounds like your drums are wider than the music instruments. I hear more of your drums left and right and your synths and piano up the middle. It's typically opposite, but this may be your style.

Good music overall. Trying something you've never done before is always great, musically. Best of luck with your future hip hop material.

how would you feel about sharing the stems for this Jesus?
my initial suggestion would be to leave the drum out for the first 8 bars or so, to let it build with just the melody, its a nice melody then put the lower end in, so its like a butterfly at first then you get the concrete boots involved as the song goes along..the beat sound at the moment is too staccato metronomic and a bit too tinny for my liking at the moment. i don't think you necessarily need a huge bassline but instead of the snare how about coming in with a bass drum?

i was actually think about not huge bass but i change the kick and the snare, and a bass drum is not a bad idea.

I agree with Pronto, would love to mess with the stems of this.. something like a remix pack. or project files.

Stem files would be good, probably easier on you as well, Plus saving as wav files and you could upload them to soundcloud
