Are you really buying pricey plugins?

I wouldn't pay that much for any plugin unless I was going to use it a lot on a regular basis.
So 4 me it comes down to potential usage versus cash invested.
am purely approaching this from a simple point of view and that said I don't hold the right how to tell people what they should or shouldn't spend money upon (part from my son )
For me personally this is all about music & nothing to do with politics or judgement. I don't care for politics as mostly it's them same old rubbish 're-packaged' (like some plugins!!)
Just about all the plugins I have bought i mostly use on a day to day basis.
Do I really need them? Some yes, a few no.
Some Dev's will always set ridiculous prices but that's up to them. That's their game.
Also like pointed out some people have the sense to say if I can't afford it I won't buy it & that is cool in my book
Fab filter do make some great plugins but they are rather pricey and unless I was going to use it every day, I wouldn't pay that.
Most of my money that I can spend is spent on Hardware and saving for other Hardware whilst trying to juggle bills & everything else that comes with everyday life.

    Peace

Fabfilter has discounts going on, just ask them, maybe they give you atleast 25% off. their plugins are really good and they are worth the money and you cant compare them to FL plugins you get with Signature.

you always have to keep in mind, Fabfilter is a little company like U-he for example, so to have everything running, the price has to be a bit like for example the price for a plugin from NI. (or DMG Audio too, etc)

it is still better to support devs, which are bringing some cool new plugins to the table.

Let's not forget that you can buy stuff second hand - soon enough Pro C2 will pop up at KVR with a discount from someone who is not really satisfied with it for whatever reason. I bought quite some stuff 2nd hand and saved a lot of money.

I only buy 1st hand stuff when I'm 100% satisfied with the whole package, that is: sound, GUI & usability, expected support, product lifetime, developer activity on KVR. Then for me it is money well spent.

So you buy wisely stuff you really need or you are GAS-ing all over the place and just hoarding stuff you barely use because they were affordable at one point?

I'd dish out the bread, if I had some too spend.

I don't want those kind of blippy beepy sounds. Everybody and their uncle is using them. Omnisphere does those sounds too but now with 2.0 you can even add your own audio sources and waveforms. :metal:

I have acquired ooodles of plugs over the years but almost exclusively use Fab's stuff now... Fab's gui's are very easy to relate to, there plugs sound exquisite and they enable me to achieve a mix i only dreamed of before. I'll upgrade to C2 as the new features are mindboggling. Fab's loyalty program is great... I routinely use mb, pro q2, pro c and pro ds as well as timeless2 on every song...haven't used pro L much as Sonar's pro channel has a great and convenient leveler and brickwall L. Fab is worth every penny...

That was on what I was aiming, you can do most of it with Omni and you can't possibly justify buying anything else

Since I make a living out of audio production only, I end up buying almost all of the plugins that I need, but only after demo-ing them for some time (I usually reinvest 30-40 % of all of my profit back into what helps me get the results that I am paid for). After spending money on some piece of software I tend to use it much more intensively and also it makes me feels good knowing that I could buy a dinner to the developers that are helping me to do what I love to do :)
There were countless times when I had buyer's remorse after buying expensive software, but I ended up using it intensively enough so that I got my money back in a short while. People will always will appreciate (and use) more the products that are paying for.
Compared to other industries, I think that very few people are getting reach out of the music biz, including software devs, so we'd better treat them as partners.
