Creating Stem files is quick and easy with the free Stem Creator Tool – a simple, standalone application built for Stem file authoring.

Just prepare four musical elements of a track as separate audio files, import them into the Stem Creator Tool, adjust the compression, and hit export. A new, high-quality stem.mp4 file is then created, ready for creative mixing. If you produce or play your own tracks, or if you are involved in the sale or distribution of music, download this version of the free Stem Creator Tool below to get started making Stems.

Forgive my ignorance but what exactly is the purpose of this?
You put stems in... just to get stems out?
    Am I missing something?
I mean you're tagging them but what else is this thing doing that I'm missing?

Different formats in - out also I imagine

As it tags them not sure but could prove useful in a database sense i.e may include metadata etc which will help with things like wav files for Kontakt & Reaktor etc.

NI users been asking for a tagging tool for AGES......maybe they listening :dunno:

    In my opinion....

... it would be better if u will add some audio file and hit "create" or "get stems" button to create stem files from any audio

I feel like they could have just made another tagging tool.
Matching the stems to the master and exporting could be done from the DAW you are already working in.
I don't mean to be negative... I still feel like I just don't get it.

No i agree to a certain extent.

Just tried it & it pretty buggy and needs work and this geared towards a simple tagging/quick mixing tool for say Traktor.
However I can see them possibly extending it i'e add more controls for mixing etc, don't know.

Also the potential to include different format files possibly and also bringing out a range of tools for say maybe metadata tagging in say proprietary files etc for Kontakt, Reaktor which would be extremely usefull.

As for this I personally have little use for it but could see them extend the range maybe & bring out something really useful in the future.

That's all I mean really

Actually it's not that kind of stems creator. It's a tool with the purpose of DJ-ing in a different way. You basicly export your song as a single file containing 4 different stems, that Traktor will play as a single song and you can easily make mash-ups, remixes, be a DJ in a more creative way.

i still helps you not in a single way to get anything done, when there are no stems.
ohhh wait yes they increase the opportunities to use their software with a closed format.

but ont he other hand i am not dj or something like that.

This file format/software is exclusively aimed to the music producers/DJs that purchase/release tracks to stores like Beatport.
It allows a whole new way of mixing tracks, where you could only mix the whole mixdown before, now you can mix individual parts of a song, opening the DJ's creativity to a new level (you can practically create whole new tracks with diferent STEMS from different tracks during a live sesssion).

I personally find this new file format really interesting, and it will, for sure, uncover who is a good a DJ, and who is just an Air knob tweaker like this one:
