The new Rupert Neve designed preamps have a variable phase adjustment, instead of just an invert. I think that would be a powerful tool to have available, for every track/channel if possible. Any DAWs that do that? Any VST tool for that?

    A sample-delay does the job.

  4. A comprehensive article on phase cancellation from Sound On Sound can be found here...https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr08/articles/phasedemystified.htm

Perhaps Harrison Mixbus has the per channel capabilities, but maybe not (nope, just checked) It would be a great thing if a DAW did do the variable phase thing, but as karlarsch (funny moniker) chimed in, a sample-delay does the job cheaply without much cpu purchase.

phase warping? by degrees? or what?
if yes,- there are some plugins alike.
Voxengo PHA, Equilibrium (all-pass filter, only phase warping, but do not use in linear phase, because it would be linear...just pre-post ringing may appear in the point of all-pass filter), etc. I can't remember them all, but there are some plugins..
If I am right with answer you are asking, I can find more plugins alike for you.

I think, when mixing, it would be nice to be able to tweak the phase of the individual tracks by small increments- while listening -instead of a just a 180 degree invert. Example: If I have a track for bass guitar direct and I also have the same part from a miked SVT amp/cabinet, maybe the sweet spot for the mic does not "phase up" with the direct track when I blend them together. Being able to play with the phase would help you to dial in the combined sound.

    Rupert Neve Designs 517
    Vari-Phase

In addition to the standard polarity reverse, the 517's vari-phase control may be used to adjust phase incrementally. This control is useful any time two signals derived from the same source are combined.

For instance, even with careful placement, the combination of close miced drums and overheads, can often yield hollow sounding results. By using the variable phase adjust, the direct signal can be phase rotated until the signals are naturally aligned.

This technique is also extremely useful when combined with the internal blend control on instruments. A bassist, using both direct and miced signals can blend the two into a single output, using the vari-phase to reach an optimal alignment. By adjusting the phase in the 517, the musician or engineer can find the absolute best mic position without regard to the phase relation to the direct signal.

Cubase, Protools, Logic and S1 all allow the user to move the WAV files left or right by Samples or Millie Seconds (MS) in real-time, by doing that you have phase shift.

Make sure Snap is off <-- Different DAW's use different name terminology but its the same result.

Most DAWs have positive and negative offset (per channel) built-in.
In cubase it's called Track Delay and can be adjusted in milliseconds.

    hello, all audio lovers,

every post is perfectly spot on... one might just add the inphase plug-in, by waves audio, before it becomes forgotten.

all the best for all of us, plus pray do include the most beautiful phase correction solutions...
