This is great, Olaf. Thanks for posting this! I had a basic app that allowed for some frequency recognition. But, this is rather in-depth and challenging. I'm glad that I can build this skill, since I never had any formal training. This is a boost of confidence in a can, knowing that my ears getting sharper.

 

The mp3 bitrate one is quite hard for me!

Yes I do.
They actually are pure solid gold.

Tip: sign up before you do this, or you'll be very frustrated when you lose your progress like I did.

So far was too easy/tedious until the mp3 (silver) test, took me a while to notice - was easier for me to stop/start each clip and listen from the start to notice differences. Easiest difference to notice is in the hats.

Final edit: yay I finished with golden ears.
The most difficult test was the mp3 test. Lucky the test topped out at 128 kbit/s

Got Golden Ears too... While it was very subtle to choose which file was ther MP3, the step where I got the worst results was finding what frequency band was cut/boosted.

 

I've been doing this test every morning for more than a year as a "calibration" method and then eventually got bored with because it became too easy, predictable like.

 

No last time i checked they where skin coloured

 

Anybody know where I can find a trial version of Titanium. I would enjoy hearing what all the hubbub is about.

Great challenge :D ...I finished it in little over hour but, yeah, mp3 128kbps was tough for me too, kept me there for a while... also the exact bands challenge wasn't easy as the rest... I've got to learn my bands for sure
