    Ok, stupid question 101 time....

Ableton Live.. u drag some drum loops into a drum rack... and want to play them on the controller...

WHY.. oh WHY... are my loops playing all the way to the end.. instead of stopping when I take my finger OFF the controller pads????

I know..I'm a retarded bastard.. and I know the answer to this.. but.. maybe, perhaps bcos of a senior moment... I can't sort it out.

Thanks folks... and go on.. have a good chuckle.. you know you want to.. :hillbilly:

Dude, check the enveloppe of the simpler/or sampler in your rack, the ADSR should be tweak to stop the play when your damn finger(zz) is/are off

    Well, that works.. thanks.

However.. having to do that for every sample on every drum rack pad seems ... longwinded?

Is there any way to change the default behavior, so that any loop you drag onto a Drum rack pad is set to release off..?

    Cheers man!

you can save your simpler or sampler with this ADSR ( or more tweak ) as defauft preset : right click under the device and save as defaut preset
and voila. Each time a drum rack or simpler/sampler is loaded it keeps this new config

make a file called options.txt in Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live x.x.x\Preferences\ and paste in this " -EnableMapToSiblings=1 ". this enables the "map to all siblings" command which is incredibly useful mapping the same knob on all other like devices in an instrument rack when mapping macros... eg. mapping the amp release of every simpler in a rack to say macro 1 in one click. not what you asked but hopefully helpful (god knows why ableton don't activate this by default?!?!)

@One Reason a couple things you might find handy:
If you try to drag a warped loop into a simpler/sampler or drum rack it's not gonna keep its warping. I really hope they fix this in v10.

If you want to launch a loop (without having to keep your finger on it) and have it stop when you press the next pad, press the i/o button on the far left of the rack and set them to the same choke group.

No kidding. I just bought a Trigger Finger Pro (as did One Reason)... first day I posted a question on the M Audio forum as to why my trigger finger's midi notes weren't reaching the tracks when my Push was turned off. Some guy sent three or four replies trying to help before I realized the TFP wasn't arming the tracks :deep_facepalm:

You can consolidate the warp file before importing it in the rack (CTRL+J or CMD+J)
