I liked that it can remove some of the Windows default programs that can be removed under Apps & Features, an annoyance I immediately discovered since I prefer to “slim” down windows.

You can block these yourself manually in your hosts file with 127.0.0.1 if you want. The program allows you to clear or view the hosts file in Notepad.

The program does the same thing but just in case you wanted to see where your information heads to or you wanted to update your hosts file manually. A log file will be left in the folder you run it from.

I took a huge chance and ran this on my clean Windows 10 installation. It did modify the hosts file exactly as promised and did remove the Apps it promised. IObit Uninstaller also spotted Destroy Windows 10 Spying running and removed leftover entries from the uninstall.

Microsoft says it’s not safe to use such apps
In a mailed statement sent to softpedia this morning, Microsoft says that it does not recommend users to turn to such apps because they affect system configuration and might cause some features to stop working properly in the future.

Obviously, you use these apps at your own risk, but given the fact that some people are really afraid of such privacy-invading features, it’s no wonder that many actually download them.

 

I would back up your system before using this. Use at your own risk.

 

Why uninstall the installed apps ? I think they dont take that much space, blocking hosts however seams to be a good idea Thank you !

 

Waste of time, as fast as people find out one part of win10 is spying on them and work out which addresses to block, Mickeysoft will just upload an "update" that will just reset everything and/or change the addresses they use. I want an operating system, not an ongoing, neverending game of Whack-A-Mole.

I was really looking forward to win10 until about a week ago, now i'm sticking with win7 for the time being while i learn linux on my spare machine.

 

It's easy to guess something is horribly wrong, when first thing users should do in their new Operating System is to block IPs to avoid spying...

Really?!, they should rename Windows 10 to Windows 10 Virus! Corporations and governments have become complete control freaks. This morning while watering my roses, some guy from my water company drives up to me and gives me a "water ticket" for watering on the wrong day! He told me that next time I'll be fined $250. WTF!! I'm beginning to understand why people go postal.

 

If i have virus i dont want simply block it from talking to asshole who make it, i want to remove it completely from my system so it is not reactivated in future.

HI JACK - this hi jacked my edge browser...had to do a system restore...

 

I was acutally quite interested in that upgrade, but I honestly can`t believe what I am reading these days. For me theses privacy issues are a REAL concern and I can`t believe how (almost) nobody cares.
The problem in my eyes is, that we all know that there is no privacy anymore in the digital age, but Microsoft clearly states in the Privacy Agreement that they are allowed to look at ALL of your files. And everybody accepts that by clicking a simple "okay".
If companies and governments do this behind our backs, okay - but actively agreeing to it, that is another thing.

I honestly don`t know if I should upgrade. And as you guys said before, is this really the proper way to first go and disable tons of setting on your new OS and even install software to remove and block apps from the developer of the OS - that spies on you?
Shouldn`t a OS be as safe as possible, a solid base to work with? I somehow lost my trust in MS (there wasn`t much in the first place, but that is no totally gone ).

What are you going to do? Are there any alternatives?

I am sticking with 7 and 8 on my machines. 10 sounds horrible!

 

Actually there is, but still very premature - ReactOS. Designed as native NT environment for windows applications. So far is nearly impossible to run in on real machine and even in VM it requires a lot of tweaking.
No sound drivers or graphics ones yet...

 

Whats New:
* Fix detecting the Avast (Other: Malware-gen [Trj])
* Added utility (see. tab “Tools”)
* Added an additional patch off keylogger.
* Added patch off privacy settings.
* Added use of a standard photo viewer (as Windows 7)

Sorry to hear that, good thing you were smart and done a backup. I would stay away from that web browser though, probably fill of spy stuff.

I wonder how it hi jack the browser? What it did to it? All websites redirect somewhere bad?

If it just disable Edge, maybe is to protect privacy.

 

Is this a good solution to stay away from spying? Or is there some other stuff that this so does not block?
