    Price isnt too bad! Had I not just gone through the pain of re installing all my software after Windows 10 Installation id be very tempted at £225 / 350 USD. But then again....i'd need a new mobo as well!

    its a nonsense invest in a lga1151 or a less than 6 cores cpus:yes:

    I read somewhere last week that the new processors are going to have a feature to greatly reduce cpu load. cant remember what it was called. Only useful for new or updated plugins.

    I have a 4790 k Really a great chip. Very powerfull I have yet to use it to the max or even half of the power itr has.

    What's so Super/Mega/Ultra astounding about it?
    Considering i7-3770K and i7-3840QM are quite easy to overclock beyond 4.2GHz and performance per clock is roughly the same.
    Yes, efficiency might be a bit better, but that's all. :thumbsup:

    Dear mate, I own 2 pc and the powerful one (music production/gaming) has inside a Intel i5 3570k... So I am thinking about a new Super/Mega/Ultra astounding PC + i7 6700k. Agree? :wink:

    Efficiency is good for music production. Less heat = less fans.

    A bit better - 4.2GHz on Ivy is possible with 57W consumption, Skylake might be in 40-45W region. For those conservative, 3.0GHz is enough, that's 23W on Ivy, easily cooled down by passive means.
    All I'm saying is that getting 2nd hand Ivy might prove to be better price per value ratio.

    57W with all cores/threads fully loaded of course, which rarely happens.
