Sounds like a sine wave which is gently modulated with another sine wave. Operator is great for this sound if you use Ableton, it's very gentle fm synthesis though, and it wouldn't hurt to low pass it a little too.

 

It actually just sounds like a percussion hit straight from an old drum machine, like an 808 or a synthesized tom pitched u. Really simple to find a sample, just look for old analog synth percussion hits. Or take an 808 sample and throw it into a non-tempo-based sampler.

 

Yup. Sounds like a tuned tom.

909 sounds more like.

So i guess 909 tom will be a good starting point.
