    Hey guys,

I've been wondering about how to setup a plugin analyzing scheme in Studio One. You know, so I can objectively and visually understand what a plugin is actually doing to the sound.

I know it involves a tone generator and a spectrum analyzer, but I'm not sure how to set up this scheme properly?

Could you give me a hand here?

    Cheers,

    Raf.

it belongs to what you want to test. if you want to see on wich frequenzies an eq is operating you set up white noise before and an spectrum analyzer after that plugin. that lets you see wich freqs will get cutted/boosted. you can use a tonegenerator before and an spectrum analyzer after an plugin to see the harmonics from the distortion. if you setup the tone g at 1khz you will se one stripe at 1khz at your spec while the plugin is bypassed. if that plugin has disortion, you will be able to see the harmonics in more stripes besides that 1khz on your analyzer when you turn on your plugin. you can use various tones from 20hz to 20khz to see the different THD. (total harmomic distortion) hope that helps

    for understanding:
    1.tone/whie noise generator
    2. Plug-in
    3. Freq analyzer

    Great Seher.

So, white noise for testing EQ curves and specific frequencies for testing harmonics, right? I'm going to give it a try asap.

    Thanks, brother. :)

There's lots offreeware & paywate frequency analyzers in VST form available.
Two excellent 'utility' ones are the oscilloscope / frequency-analyzer combo by Robin Schmidt, in his 'Freebies' page: http://www.rs-met.com/

    Thanks for the input guys,

I've already tried using Studio One's native tone generator + Voxengo Span for the analyzes and it works great.

Of course, VST Plugin Analyser is the definitive solution, but it only reads 32bit plugins.

    All the best,

    Raf.
