I'm sorry, but having owned a Jupiter-6, a V-Synth, two JP-8080s and a shitton of Viruses, I can tell you that such a thing as a "Supersaw" is hyped beyond belief. And, yeah, I can program those synths alright. Sylenth1? Supersaw? Naaaaaah. It's pathetic. You could get a used 8080 for 350-400$ in 2006-2007 and it had all supersaw you ever wanted to, so this can't be decisive factor. I've yet to hear good supersaw patches out of Sylenth. Also, even the Virus B could make convincing dual PWM leads akin to supersaw.

Even more, FM7/8 is easy. As is Absynth. Moreso, they have decent user interfaces (maybe earlier absynths had quirky EG editing functions). But Sylenth1 GUI is absolutely TERRIBLE. Have you tried programming the arpeggiators on it? Most people who praise the GUI only require access to env amount and cutoff and patch selection. :)

Reakor may be complicated to make stuff in but it has a TON of ready instruments a lot of which did a half-assed job of mimicking the... oh-god... SUPERSAW...

Jeez. My 8080s have been sitting in storage for years... Who needs supersaw when you can have analog unison detune? :)

The only thing exotic about Absynth is its GUI artwork, otherwise it's a pretty standard layout if you think of it. I used to consider it exotic before I took my time and wasted a day whacking at it. :) Thanks to Junkie XL and his tutorial. :)

Sylenth1 just went downhill due to large amount of vanilla trance soundsets. That's IT! Simple. Same with Spire. They marketed this stuff for modern "EDM" producers and made a ton of soundsets suited for the style they produce in. Same with Dubstep and Massive. End of story. The CPU usage might have had something to do with it. The "supersaw" stuff too, although I've never heard it there but wtf do I know about EDM and supersaws. :)

    CPU Usage/Supersaw/Hype/Soundsets. :)
