Here is the "I don't know how to" section :o)... of course it concerns also the "I don't know the name of" and all kind of "I don't know (whatever/anything)" variations. ok let's begin : i don't know i need a special tool (and what one ?) to read akai sounds. i use mac/protools 7.4.
many thanks for your help ;o)

    good idea
but since we're only beginning, it's okay to post these kind of questions in separate topics.

as for Akai, on PC i would convert them with CDXtract (can be found on AudioZ under essential section) *yes*
trying not to use them a lot, because any conversion will make impact on quality...

Thanks very much for your answer.
i've another question : i've got a light version of sampletank with protools. i dig many sounds avaliable in that version. i think it'd be nice to get the entire sampletank version. but : how can i read the files (i already have kontakt 2. can i use it ?) ? or do the files are immediatly controled by the midi keyboard ?

why would you want to stick with sampletank? i haven't checked sampletank for about 8 years now, but i'll never believe it's better than Kontakt 4 *no*

you should really upgrade your Kontakt.
if memory not fails me, you can read SampleTank files in Kontakt 4.
    check you PM

"why would you want to stick with sampletank?"

Hi Saint, i'm not comparing sampletank and kontakt as samplers. i just say that many of the sampletank's light version sounds are interesting. and i suppose that there are many more of them avaliable in the full version of sampletank. a friend told me that sampletank cannot play (as kontakt does) sounds that don't belong to its package. that's why i was asking what to install and how to read the sounds delivered with the full version. thanks for your previous answer.

I am pretty sure that kontakt will ready and play akai format cds directly. I believe kontakt is cross platform as well. CDxtraxt works, but can be a pain to convert all the time. Try kontakt for direct read. Kontakt is one of the most versatile apps you can have in your arsenal.

Speaking about the topic: "I don't know"...

I don't know how to play gigasamples, and also REFILL files...

Anyone knows, wich is the player for these files?

GIG samples are played whith Gigasampler, but Kontakt will convert and play them.( You can also use CDXtract if you want to convert to some other specific software format )
Refill is a kind of "folder" containing sounds and patches for Reason. Only opened by Reason itself, or could be unpacked by "Refill Viewer" http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TWRDVGHQ (PC only). It' gives you the opportunity to use the "wav" banks included in the refill .. in other softwares.
You can also make your own Refill, whith Refill Packer, if you want to enclose some personal library in this format.

I am back again to ask another thing...

    Working with Sonar X1

Why when I record the vocal track, on this track is it possible to listen all the other instrument in the background (giving some problems when I have to add some effects?)

There are other solutions, beyond applying a gate filter (i don't like this kind of stuff)?

    Thanx for the help
