Beware! If you buy Waves Plugins is does NOT mean that you will benefit from updates forever. I recently got this mail:

    Dear Valued Waves User,
We're writing to let you know that your Waves Update Plan for the following product(s) will expire in 14 days:
Product Serial Num WUP Expiration Date
    Gold xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 7/6/2015
Please keep in mind Waves Update Plan coverage is not necessary to continue using the version of the licenses you have.
You only need to renew when you need the benefits gained by Waves Update Plan coverage. See below for a complete list of advantages for staying current.
To extend your Waves Update Plan coverage online, click here.
Or if you prefer, you can purchase your Waves Update Plan coverage by visiting your local Waves dealer.
    You Have Complete Compatibility
You get the latest Waves versions, which means compatibility with all major
audio hosts and operating systems. See Tech Specs
    Additional Plugins
With Waves Update Plan, you receive new plugins as they're added to your bundle.

Never had any manufacturer doing this trick. If you read the terms and conditions it does not clearly state about this condition. In my case it means that I have to pay $270 for a 1 year and 4 months subscibtion for a Waves Gold Bundle. In their regular sales you do not spend that kind of money.

Basically I really think this is a rip off so I would advise against purchasing their products.

thats stated when you buy anything from Waves, i think its a great model and helps to get income for waves to continue developing new plugins.

i dont like waves plugins, they are high on cpu and i the handling is not suiting for me.

The WUP has been around for ages, not new news.

That is clearly stated when you buy it from waves. So where exactly is the "rip-off" then ?

I bought a Waves collection in the very beginning...so nothing is new.
In old times have no cross platform, I have to buy logic and its updates for mac and pc.
Sometimes they even ask for money to update, for example, to 1.0 to 1.5 or a compatibility with new version of OSs.
Just remembering that each format of plugins for the same OS costs the same thing. if you buy an AU plug you have to pay the same amount for a VST.
    Slowly the monkey evolve :bleh:

I think they also have this thing where if you pay for the update you get that dollar amount as a discount to put towards new plugins or something like that. Any one else know about this??

    It's not their rip-off, it's your ignorance.

I bought RBass, S1 and Center but never installed them. So my licences are probably outdated as well. LOL. But I don't give a fuck. I won't be bothered by that shitty forced upgrade policy. All I know is: waves won't get any of my money in the future. I rather invest it in other companies.

thats the goal they have. the free plugin they give away every years is to get people to create an account on waves.com and the free plugin they get is only for one year - if i am not mistaken, then you need to upgrade your plan again.

RBass was a free givenaway i think, or was it the whole R-Bundle? i cant remember because i never claimed plugins from waves.com.

Yeah, RBass was free and then I bought the other ones on some sales. It's okay since I used all their other shit for free.

I had a look at my account. I cannot even claim the licence for that one anymore without an upgrade plan. And you can't just say: "hey, just give me the release I paid for and not upgrade". No, you have to download the whole fucking bundle.

The Licences for the others expire soon as well. I'm like: oh, so you want me to pay you again for using a plugin I bought already? So basically, it's like you just burrough the plugin. I will never support such a policy (again). It's really good that there's a warez scene that protects people from scams like this! I really can't grasp why "the industry" supports these tactics. I probably should just uninstall all waves shit. Since I am trying to get legit step by step I won't use their shit anyway under these conditions.

Waves is THE only company who's stuff I will never pay for.

All the rest is definitely "Try before I buy."
