Interesting, it's usually those who have never installed Mac OS on a PC that tend to preach and give advices.
I've been running a rock solid Hackintosh for about 2 yrs now. True, you need to develop a software muscle and not shit in your pants when the first problem occurs. You need to follow Hackintosh forums to find the right procedures and choose the right components. But you will be amply rewarded.

My EVGA/i7 mac beats any 4-core Apple in benchmark tests! And if anything breaks down (and my Applecare had expired) I don't have to sell my children to get it fixed.
But the truth is that many PC motherboard companies make higher quality products than Apple (in fact they don't even make MoBo's themselves, but have them made by Intel). Apple hardware breaks down A LOT. My last computer was a Dual G5 Apple that broke down 3 months before my Applecare expired. But some of my friends were not quite as lucky...and I could name a few. The money I saved from the covered repair bought me ALL of the Hackintosh parts and more.

Don't let ignorant people fool you: The parts Apple uses are PC parts in disguise, only with a much higher price tag.
Learn from people who write installation guides on forums instead.
The best ones: http://tonymacx86.com/ , http://www.kakewalk.se/ , www.osx86project.org/ and insanelymac, this being a great start:

I recommend a Gigabyte motherboard and an NVidia GTS285 video card to start with.

    Good luck!

Its always just the USER behind it...iam on Hackintosh since 10.4.x, startet on a Dell tbut then its always the Best to choose the right INTEL components build it yourself.
If it is done right and good Installed it works like a real Mac. And yes also all those DAW goodies and Plugs you mention do without a hitch. Nuff said

AND I TOTALLY AGREE WITH MY FORMER POSTER !! Well said Bro

A well built hackintosh is exactly the same as a real mac.

I have one, as well as a real mac : no difference, both are stable as a rock.

Both OS are great, Windows 7 is the best and the stablest Desktop OS ever made by MS.
But i find OSX better for music use.
Though, i ll never use OSX at work. ( i m a network admin )

That s a software incompatibility problem, nothing to do with the OS.
Largo needs to be updated it does t work on live 2.6+ as well but fine in logic, the problem is Largo and not MacOsX.

Like previously said the problem is often in the chair behind the comp.

I use iatkos l2 and LOVE it! It installed very easily and it screams. Look for it where the pirates hang out. Though I havent tried all of the daws, I have been using Harrison Mixbus and Soundblade and it is running fantastic!

As several buddies has stated if you have the proper hardware is possible to run Mac OS X in a PC smoothly.

But often it's a huge task, many experienced PC people spends months after all it works fine. Others report much shorter installation and tweaking times.

    Good luck!
