    Hi,
this December, my GMail account reaches 10 years of existence and since Google became corporate devil since then, I'm looking for alternative provider. Unseen is out - was proven to be NSA trust tactics. It's based in USA actually, not Iceland.

GMail offered loads of useful and great features, which really got me into it (spam filtering, account merging, ...) - is there a good alternative for GMail out there?
And any known 'equally good' alternative to Google search engine? Yes I still use Google, as DDG or StartPage can't give me equally relevant and useful results.
    Thanks

    Hey Andrew,

Someone suggested PROTON MAIL once on the forums. I have been using it since. It is double-protected. I haven't had any issues with it... yet!

Maybe that one works for you?

    Good luck.

Public registration for Proton Mail is not closed, it's open - though the demand for it finds PM in need for expansion. One now reserves a uername and waits for a notification/invitation to register once service capacity has been expanded.

I just saw that... You can put in your current email and they'll tell you when their servers get expanded. Sorry about that, I hadn't checked.

I noticed Startpage is getting better over time, It's my first choice, only when I can't find stuff I turn to the big G.
Startpage has their own mail service, StartMail. Said to be private, but costs $60,- a year..

Hushmail is about as evul as Gmail...

    http://www.cybercrimereview.com/2012/11/hushmail-provides-unencrypted-e-mails.html

ProtonMail sounds awesome, and I managed to get an account after waiting for around 6 months, unfortunately one can't use it without JavaScript, i.e. not Tor-browser friendly.

Riseup.net is decent, although I hear getting an account there can be a slow process.

I personally use Safe-mail.net. I wouldn't trust their built-in PGP encryption though, no more than hushmail's anyways. But used in combo with GPG I sleep quite alright.

There is also Tutanota, which is not Gmail-like in function and appearance, but which is encrypted, and which enables one to send a totally-encrypted/confidential e-mail which they open by password on the recipient on his/her end - and which enables an e-mail conversation within Tutanota's encrypted realm. E-mail messaages to other Tutanota addresses are automatically confidentially-encrypted this way, with no special access password necessary for the Tutanota-addressed recipient. 1GB of free-level storage, including one free alias. Business accounts cost per user per month, and can be integrated with Outlook by an add-on.
