Hey guys. im on PC and use Cubase 7
I've recently run into popping sounds problem with kontakt. I did try optimizing kontakt, it helped for a day only. I think I did something wrong while I was optimizing kontakt's performance. right now, even in an empty project with just one instance of kontakt, I hear popping sounds.

So I want to uninstall & reinstall the kontakt. but will this ruin the expressions & mudulations I've laid out for each string?
I've opened 5 or 6 libraries within each kontakt. each library is routed to its midi & stereo output. Will the reinstalling mess up the mapping?

I'm confused and have no idea how to approach this matter to avoid hours & hours & hours of redoing stuff. :dunno:

    any help is truly appreciated.
    Thank You

    @ Pouyad,

As I don't exactly know how you have made all your stuff, could it be possible that you save all your stuff in form of Kontakt 'Scripts', that you'll then be able to reload as is afterwards, thus recovering your exact saved Settings.

Another good solution, even if you'll need to set once again all your Stuff, could be to use a Program to make exact 'Snapshots' of all your Settings done within all your stuff. A program, as for example, 'Ashampoo Snap 7' could be perfect to use to make detailed 'Snapshots' of all the needed/used Screens to be set once again afterwards.
I know, that's not the optimal thing, but a least you can keep visual traces of all your hard works... *yes*

What is the buffer size you have set for your sound interface?

It should be fine to re-install if you want to, because its usually your daw's project files which have the info as to what VST, what patch, reverb filter delay settings and any other tweaks you might have made stored within it, in FL studio at least, maybe a Cubase user could verify this for you, I'm not 100% about Cubase. but I think this would be the case.

Does it "pop" even when rendering ? or just real time ?
Did you checked for CPU spikes during playback ? And hard drive spikes usage in Kontakt ?

If you are on Windows, use integrated Windows Performance Monitor. It will show you CPU, hard drive, memory and more.

You can use "DPC latency checker" to see if there is no hardware conflict (wifi, LAN...).

Before doing anything related to install/reinstall, do a FULL backup of your system. Acronis True Image or anything block based like that.
If it goes wrong, you can always go back to square one

    Good luck and tell us.
