Yes, Andrew, I had problems with Firewire in Windows 7 X64! Not one time it worked right out of the box like in XP-SP3. However, to make it work properly you have to change the MS Firewire driver to a legacy one [from XP], and it's easily done in Device Manager. MS thankfully supplied both drivers with W7. There is a thorough description of the procedure on the 'net if you search for it. But interestingly, after fiddling with this MS legacy/non-legacy Firewire drivers, sometimes, on some systems, it just works OK with either one. Go figure... I think it's the registry settings for the controller that make either driver work properly, but it's easier to just try changing the driver than tinker with the registry anyway.

Thanks for the response, but I meant Windows XP x64, maybe you misread it *yes*

 Indeed, I misread it, automatically thinking W7 x64. :bleh:

No, I had no problems with firewire under XP x64 on client's computers, and since I'd like to utilise more memory on my main computer, I might install XP x64, actually, not W7 x64, but only when I'm finished with the work-season this month, and after holidays. :bleh: That means autumn.

Maybe you've heard of problems with Firewire that also XP had suffered from in the beginning, but after Service Pack 2 had been released both worked well with Firewire. That's about the time when I finally decided to upgrade from Windows 2000... It's always been Firewire, MIDI and MIDI interfaces, and SCSI support that determined my OS upgrades.

    Cheers!
