    Ableton Live, Reaper.

Studio one is very nice for noobies imo. Tried everything, cant' stand Cubase 5 workflow or window management, Sonar x1 was better but too buggy, FL again ok, but the Interface workflow is terribad for rhythms imo.

just out of curiosity, what bugS did you find in sonarx1 (did you apply any update to it...so far it's X1b)?? after more than a decade of cubase I have switched recently to X1 and it's been really stable and easy to work with so far...and also what's so wrong about C5 windows management? (what resolution do you work in?) .. live is indeed an acceptable compromise though it takes some time to get used to ...however once you get the idea, it's actually pretty easy to work with...too bad the engine is 32bits only

Though I'm a lucky Ableton Live user, still sometimes I prefer Mackie Tracktion (version 3) for linear recording. It just works. And has a great remote control editor, project management and plugin chainer. It's one of the simplest-to-use DAW's I ever used (compared to Logic, Cubase -even Cubase LE-, Sonar etc), and it supports REX/RX2, mp3 and ogg files, which I use often. Being able to trigger playback of any clip(s) in the arrangement by MIDI keyboard is another plus.

Tracktion is dead, however. The DAW that comes closest today seems to be Studio One.

this is the point upsampling a 44.1 to 96 never add something to the audio file, but he wrote that there is a interpolation that makes the 96 file sound different and that makes no sense.... but maybe he as an publication that proofs that too.

    Can't you stop? :dunno:

If you play back a sample, which has been recorded at 44,1 kHz, at 96 kHz, there has to be an interpolation, can you agree on that?

If this is the reason for the different sound, is another question.

honestly there's no need to argue endlessly...interpolation = math function, so let's be fair and square, it doesn't improve the half
sampling frequency or it doesn't "create" anything that is not there in the first place , HOWEVER by doing so we are guessing a function's values
between known fixed points..so no interpolation is definitely not improving your sound-clip as it is just guessing, but in the end this reconstruction
may sound a bit better (more open and airy or analogue...whatever you wanna call it) to your ears, though actually different from the original
as what you hear is a reconstruction filter
    ...end of story. *yes*
so as I said earlier you are both right, you just consider things from a totally different angle and aren't clear about it!

i stop when i want and not when you want it. so if you dont like the discussion then leave it. and i cant agree on that at upsampling there is no interpolation which adds something to the sample like harmonics or frequencies.

FWIK it just depends on whether you use a linear or non linear process...in the first case you are right in the second not necessarily

Yes, I will definitely not reply to you any more, no matter what you write.
I don't like discussing in a kindergarden-style, and that is what you do.

I never said that the interpolation adds something. You always put words in my mouth I didn't say.
I said that it can change the sound, and in this case it probably takes something away, instead of adding.
You can see it clearly in the other thread.

Feel free to make another funny comment about me.
    Bye.

you wrote that the 44,1 file is changed thru interpolation... and that this is the reason why the 96khz file sounds different, so you mentioned that thru interpolation the 44,1 khz is been changed but the 44,1 khz file is not beeing changed when upsampled. upsampling no change is sound!!!! and you missed that point. downsampling there is a interpolation but not at upsampling. so maybe you are not so pro thru studying all these publications and the videos you and the other guy posted...

Yes you should be slapped if you think Studio One sounds like Abelton...THEY ARE Different. I use four DAW's Cubase5, Live 8, Reaper and My Fav S1(which has Mastering built in), depending on the type of Kush I have that day...

Also you should be slapped if you think anything sounds like reason....Cause it doesn't.

It was quite amusing and entertaining to read all that bickering.. like two old ladies in a supermarket after the last bar of chocolate  !
But I believe education comes with example, not censorship.

    Still... you're the boss I guess :)

Education comes with politeness, not by comparing members' brain with "the little sausage between your legs".

This guy was not here for learning or teaching something, but only for arguing indefinitely. When he was run out of arguments, unable to provide any concrete evidence of what he claimed, and finally closed by a quote of one of his own sentences, he started to quibble about downsamling and upsampling.

All this probably because his girlfriend was sitting next to him in front of the screen or, more likely, because it's been too long there's nobody sitting next to him...

You will also notice that the old lady who I am respects opinion of other people here who also believes in a sound difference between DAWs. It's their right to assert such a thing, as long as they don't do it in a hysterical, ridiculous and insulting way. This was not the case with a member that our community will definitely gain to forget.

The only thing we now have to worry about is that it will soon be tea time and there's no more After Eight's...
