no watz funny?? LOLL all them aholez clamin that their single core POS cant run this or that HAHA lol thing iz, guess what i dont give a care i got i7-4790k and i can rock tha world b1tch. yeah thats right, people clamin that their single core athlon-64 cant do the job need to look at modern processors, they probably have no clue at all how fast they actually are nowadayz. its not just the speed tho its the ability to multi task with only like 0-15% cpu usage. thats usually what i get when watchin 4K video on that processor. i only got 8 gigz a ram tho, and i could always through in another 16 gigs whenever i want..

    aight,

This kinda reminds of one time when I was young, and someone gave me a shitload of speed, and I ended up having this incredible hardon that didn`t wear off with no pussy around to ease the pain in my crouch that I could feel all the way up to my brain. All I could do was to jerk off watching some shitty porn on an old x286 PC on a 56k modem line.

Anyway, DJSabreblade sounds like some shitty drugged out DJ in Tekken wearing a gay cougar outfit with an i7" (yes inch) up his arse.

Grow up and stop posting crap! :dont:

Or I`ll show you my good `ol Yamaha CX5 or my Atari ST, they rule!!! :headbang:

And I totally agree with Catalyst.

@Rasputin: did a couple of albums on a 400 mhz powerbook G4 *yes* Kids nowadays... :dunno:

Lol its actually a legit post not troll just wanted to raise a point about modern processors..and make moaners think a bit, have they actually tried modern processors? if so then they should know that running 10 instances of fruity loops or cubase at once is no problem at all..its not the ghz anymore so much as it is the tech behind the chips, and another thing, the i7-4790k is actually only a 2014 processor, alot of people here in my country and the states have socket 2011 x99 stuff already, and THATS expensive (at least 2 grand for processor and motherboard etc..), the i7-4790k was only $ 400 CAD for me back in November 2014 when i bought it so it wasnt OUTRAGEOUS.

And..yes guys..ok yeah I was trying to have a bit of fun (like when i WAS younger on various forums LOL) with my first post  please forgive me for livening up the place a bit!! ;)

I have three PCs, each with 3.0GHz i7-quad and 16GB RAM, yet I still don't find the incentive to moan or "rock tha world b1tch".
The idea behind this computing cluster was to have spare processing power on hand not just for myself, but also for friends who need to render their lengthy video projects and for budget reasons cannot afford 2nd machine.
They don't need to pay for electricity either, as the cluster is self-contained from solar cells. *yes*

"good `ol Yamaha CX5 or my Atari ST"- could never get better than that except for the Audio.

Not that it matters but for work i run a i7-4960X 32gig Ram and also a i7-5960X 64gig ram and i can name a few apps and vsti's that are badly coded and can use anything up to 40% of the 6 and 8 cores.

So i can't see the point in this mindless thread

hmm i have never so far come across any app vst etc..that use all of even my 4 cores..unless maybe 4K video rendering..but i so far dont render 4K video i just watch it. the most any badly coded vst i have come across was Lush or something and it only uses max 30-40% cpu per instance..for example cutting edge games only use a small percentage of my cpu, the lag would be because of a shitty video card, or lack of ram (which reminds me i should through in this new ram i just bought). I have the *worlds best* consumer (according to amd) video card the AMD 8 gig 295x. for audio card i use my old audigy 2 zs plat and it still sounds just as good as when i bought it. (its good enough for me)

Still rocking here with my little i3 3,20 ghz. It's doing is job. Arrange some synth, little bit of processing and freeze instruments. Works for me up to 150 tracks (progressive house) plus mixing. I also had 2 AMD CPUs wich were ok at the time, less expensive and 64 bit. Someone here has a 6-8 CPU core?? They are powerful??

if you have the socket 2011 stuff its at least $600-$1500 for a decent cpu for 6-8 core (although i havent seen one above 4 ghz yet) intels.. its not really mainstream or generally affordable yet except for enthusists. they actually have a lower single core clock then the i7-4790k (@4.0 ghz or 4.4 turbo but turbo is more like idle mode it just speeds up usually when there is no load or it cools down enough or something..)

there is definatley benifits to the socket 2011 over the 1150 such as higher FSB, which results in faster ram...etc..but again a good socket 2011 pc would be at least 2 grand or more.

I'll LITERALLY MURDER your 4790K with a few Serums & Divas and a few nice Kontakt libs. You'll BEG for FORGIVENESS.

Yet no one on the market consider relocating processing to GPU (through OpenCL or CUDA), even though it's much more suitable for tasks such as audio than x86 CPUs (each sample can be played in its dedicate core/thread with all the FX processing).
Yes NI, I'm talking about Kontakt.. :excl:

100x more efficient and 50 times more powerful than most i7 quads today.

I remember some guys developing something with nvidia cards as a low-budget powercore alternative, I have even seen some prototypes. But that was well over 10 years ago and now there is not much left.
There is this convolution reverb http://gpuimpulsereverb.de/
    and something for linux http://www.zamaudio.com/?p=380

Apparently, Reverberate and the Nebula stuff work with CUDA also...

    Thanks for the suggestions!
49 Euro for single machine (HW lock)?? Damn that too much.

I suppose Altiverb is CPU only...

You have zero, (literally, ZERO) understanding of GPU and CPU architectures and requirements of most audio software code routines if you believe that a GPU is 100x more efficient. Can't direct you to some literature now, but GIYF. Just go to KVR forums and dig up some threads on this one. There are plenty of developer answers which outline the reasons and justifications.

So instead of rofling, educate yourself.
