    frei:raum | three EQs - one plug-in

    smart EQ:

The core of frei:raum is a fully interactive equalizer with state of the art mastering quality.
Each band can either be used in classical mode for manual EQing, or in the unique "smart" mode,
offering automatic detection and removal of problematic resonances in different frequency bands.

One step closer, please – proximity EQ:

Got your spectral balance right but some frequency ranges still sound blurred and lack presence?
That's where the proximity EQ of frei:raum comes into action.
With a few clicks, you can easily adjust the relation of direct sound and reverb within any frequency range.
Use the prxomity EQ for reverb reduction and flexible dereverberation - or to increase the natural "diffuse sound" of your recording.

    Unlimited (a)tonality – entropy EQ:

Turn up picking sounds and play with the sharpness of your snare drum!
Perfect, nice clear sound but still not "tight" enough? Get your hands on the fabulous, new entropy EQ!
By separating tonal components (e.g. sustained notes) from inharmonic parts (e.g. drum attacks),
the entropy EQ can be used to freely adjust the tonal characteristics of your sound at any given frequency.

    Hi,

I tested this for a while today.

    I have an i3-530 2core+HT = 4 logical cores. So 25%=1 core loaded.

Couldn't get the smart magic EQ working.

You can use the proximity EQ to play with the balance between attacks & sustains. Thus, it's a multiband linear phase transient designer, sort of like QuikQuak Mashtactic. Or you can use it to dereverb without using iZotope RX3's dereverb.

You can use the entropy EQ bit to tease out the harmonic material without using Tone2's Akustix or a denoiser. I tried to use this to extract vocals but that didn't go so well...

This typically uses 6-8% CPU (or 24-32% of 1 core), compared to 3% (12%) for QQMT. So it has a simple/intuitive GUI, effective DSP, and medium CPU. OTOH, Zynaptiq's stuff has a non-intuitive GUI, ineffective DSP (at least on my stuff & testing), and high CPU 15-30 (60-120%). If it goes over 25 (100%), then it lags. It lags & has dropouts.

The release thread on "the dark side" has lots of comments, something baout the 'smart' price tag of 399E.

Anyway, if you like this & you think it has a use, it's worth it. I'd like to see more stuff in the multiband FFT transient/harmonic area like this VST.

This plugin was discussed at length back in February when -Zeus- posted about it.

You can view and contribute to that thread here:
