And install the official version and overwrite my old sylenth1 which I got online, will the sylenth patches that i currently have in my patches remain the same?

    Basically TLDR

Had sylenth1 bootleg used it loved it
    Wish to buy now
Wish to do simple drag drop overwrite while still having my sylenth sounds in my tracks be the same

I am on macbookpro yosemite 10.1

i think you should be able to backup your patches to another drive at the very least and retain them with your (proudly) new legit version.... I forget where they are stored, or default, but it should not be a problem.... just make sure you back them up and you should be good to go.... I am pretty sure any patches made with k'd sylenth WILL open in legit.... just find where your presets are and make a copy just to be sure! But good for you!

What do you mean by back up preset? Like just save the preset? Where?

I currently have it saved as a channel strip in logic

Do I need to save it in sylenth itself? Am I saving it via sylenth or via logic at the top in the drop down?

Then it's probably saved as a logic preset.... as you are using it as an AU probably... I save presets all the time in logic and ableton, and if I delete the plugin, the presets remain, it saves them in your Logic library (is that the word?), not as .fxb's or whatnot which Sylenth would save it as in VST etc, which would probably be in Lib/Application support/Lennar Digital/Sylenth etc or User Lib same path... (or presets in audio, but I think Sylenth you define a preset path from the plugin),....

Well I would always have a backup of my system drive, (i know it's not convenient sometimes, but believe me, it saves your ass more then it won't, one thing you will NEVER say is, "damn, i wish I hadn't spent the $40 to backup my working system" when push comes to crap....:))... but backing up your presets (you should be able to tell if you have been saving them from sylenth itself or just from logic), and installing legit, you should have no problems.... I use a lot of k's for software I legitimately own for many different reasons, and it has never been an issue...

The presets will work just fine. Saving the Logic Channel Strips won't save your Sylenth Presets. They're in a different location and if they get moved or destroyed, channel strips will ask you where you put them!!
But you should have back-up copies of everything you've ever installed on your computer.. and kept. I have back-ups of back-ups.
It's just inconceivable to think that when a hard drive crashes (and they ALL will) that you would even utter the words "I can't believe this shit!" You've been warned.
*(BTW: Hard drives have a life span of 3 to 5 years on average and some companies will warranty them for that period but most only do 2 years). For $8-$12 you can back-up just about every preset under the sun on a USB thumb drive... so don't be stupid.

Your Sylenth presets reside in the Preferences folder of your "USER" library (not your visible HD library) in a folder called "Lennar Digital". I say "visible" because Apple has hidden the user library since OS X Lion for security reasons, which is why Macs don't get viruses. (I haven't had a virus in the 27 years I've been using Macs and deal with viruses daily on my PC's but I remain thankful for Avast... and yes, I have 3 Macs in my studio and 3 PC's in my house).

If you haven't revealed your hidden library folder then here's how:

    Anyone?

I plan on completely uninstalling sylenth (vst files, I will leave the prefernces/soundbank files in tact)

then installing the new bought version. Do I need to remove any registry keys? I want the new bought version to be in my name.

I just bought sylenth1 couple days ago. I copied my presets onto my desktop then completely uninstalled my pirated copy of sylenth using PKG uninstaller.

    Why PKG uninstaller?

Cant I just move to trash like the site says?

Do I need to freeze my files? I have the presets saved as individual presets that show up when I click the logic drop down menu at the top of the box...

Basically if I reinstall Sylenth and open up my projects I want the sounds that I used sylenth with to still be the same

    PKG uninstalls everything for you.

I dont want the sylenth preferences / presets folder to be uninstalled though.

I DO want the registry crack to be uninstalled though. I don't want arcade to show up when I bought it I want it to be in my name lol

Can you please guide me through this mate? I want to buy Sylenth rn but I don't want to be bummed out after paying if it doesn't install correctly or it messes up my presets. Will really appreciate it, cheers!

If I uninstall the sylenth vst the preset/sound of sylenth in those project folders aren't going to just disappear right?

Sylenth1 3.0 is 64 bit btw thats one of the reasons i bought it. You dont need 32 lives for it.

    0. back up your presets = open sylenth in logic and save your presets in a specific folder. Choose something easy for you.
You'l need to move it after new install
    1. trash .component +.vst
    2. trash preferences, you need to do it if you want silenth properly registrered, this may help you
    3. install new sylenth.
    4. you can chose into sylent where you have your presets folder ( see 0)
no need to buy Live32 for sylenth, the new version is also 64 bits compatible . But if you have some 32 bits plugins that you cannot leave, Live32 worth it obviously.

    this also may help you.

    cheers

If your on a Mac which I assume is right since your using Logic then go to /Library/Audio/Presets/Sylenth 1 SoundBanks.
Your patches should be in there. Back that up and check to see that your personal patch titles are in there as well.
