The motto is: "Try before you buy." Try it, then buy it.

Absolutely they should. There is nothing that makes me angrier actually. The sheer greed and hypocrisy. I can't afford it. But I will when I start succeeding. I actually know a few pros with PLENTY of money and success that abide by warez. For example, on the low end of the chain the French guy that did the Paul Wall CD with sittin sideways on it.

Well, I'm also not a rich guy who can afford all of this great VST stuff and I couldn't start making music without Team AiR and ASSiGN. I would thank them for doing such a nice job giving all of this expensive stuff to us for free.

I also have problems with Synthix like everybody else, but I don't make myself a heachache saying "Team AiR has failed this time". No, I just use it, but carefully. If I hear that strange problem with the modulation, I just reload the plug-in and everything is fine again. You won't get these problems if you create your own preset, the special hidden protection to Synthix is in the preset management. That would be my guess. If I don't use the SEQ section in it, I won't get any crashes of the plug-in or the DAW, simple as that. I personally like Synthix and I'll continue using because I waited for it for such a long time and I don't want to miss a chance on getting hold on it even if it's buggy.

TubeOhm's Vintage plug-in e.g. doesn't have any protection but the *.dll of it is compiled individually for each user with some hidden information in it. So if you buy it and then upload/crack it, they can track and punish you. Far easier than implementing eLicenser or iLok etc.

I think its hilarious when people complain about it, or slate the various groups in the scene, what do you want for free?? It's even funnier when they make a track with their warez setup then moan and complain that their tracks are being pirated and downloaded illegally. Wtf do you expect?

Its the same when people want to be spoon fed everything on how to produce and ask stupid noob questions. I don't mind helping people, I've had help myself, am sure we all have, but alot of what people ask can be answered with a quick search.
It's never been easier to learn but people just don't put any effort in and at the end of the day it's your effort and experience that will make you good, along with training your ears to make the right mix decisions and being realistic (yes that again but its so true).

Is this the price of warez? Maybe, simply because we now expect things for free, we don't pay for it so we don't appreciate it. No this don't apply to everyone, but the masses, yes. These same people are the ones downloading waves 8 and crying out for new nexus because they think it will make them sound pro. If you can't do it without these tools then this aint guna help either. (again this don't apply to everyone but I think you get what I mean as alot don't know how to use them in the first place and are looking for the magic preset (which they wont find)).

Then you have mac and pc users jealous of each others releases (as if you don't have enough already to be getting on with).
If people learn to use what they have already I don't think there would be such a problem, or such a need or want for things to be cracked.

I'm greatfull for all the warez teams, maybe I'm sounding hypocritical, true, but at the same time it depends how you look at it. From my views you should be to tell how I'm seeing things and that it can benefit you without all this crap. The best thing you can do is stop downloading everthing going and learn the basic tools you have. Even pay for some of them (they really are worth your money). Just please don't moan if it don't work, or about what you don't have or can't afford, you really can make good music without it anyway.

The Question is: Why there is any copy protection?

Look at the Music Industry. Years ago they think it's better to put in a copy protection for every song.
And today? The protection is gone.

Better for the Industry, better for the Customers!

    This is bollocks.

Most stuff these days, free or paid.. is pretty damn well coded, and reliable...its not 2002

If it causes u problems.. shitcan it and use something else...Free.. or paid.

Doesn't matter... there's just WAYYYY too much stuff that ..just works.. to be bothered with this nonsense.

I'd say my cost in using this software.. is about.... Zero... compared to the gain.

Well I must admit that in the last couple of years I only bought the Mp3s/CDs I couldn't find anywhere else (and I have more than 15 years of experience with finding the 'good stuff'). Same goes with software - as long as there is a cracked working copy, I won't ever buy. In the good old C64 days every kid I knew had a shitload full of pirated games ("Dynamic Duo"), who ever cared?

And as I said, I don't give a shit if some Zebra or whatever is not working, finally I would go for the free Synth1 if necessary.

Personally, there is a loft of K'd software and copied sample packs that i will never buy if i suddenly had to choose between 'keeping and buying' or 'not keeping deleting it', ie: i was never going to be a customer.

I am already getting the cash together to get my DAW. Its the one thing i cannot do without and i would like the extra customer support. I have already bought some synths that i like a lot (eg Erik Wollo's Voyager) and any that cause too many crashes, but I wish to keep using.

Sample packs? If i had to go without i think i would opt for sampling from my many vinyl sitting on the shelf than start paying for every pack i have. There is the odd one i may buy.

If i think I am going to be a success, finally!, i would purchase anything i use for commercial gain. No doubt. I am just going to stick to buying the absolutely necessary stuff first. Everything else later. *yes*
